War with the boycotted The existence and high-handedness of the boycotted
After Amr bin A’as’s harmful movement, the foundation stone of kingship or monarchy was laid. Hazrat Ali AlahisSalam with great pain, realized that strong efforts should, now, be started to save the community from the dominance of such destructive elements. In this connection, he addressed to his group, “Those who are fighting with you, wish that tyrant (Jabbar) should be crowned as king and the servants of Allah the Almighty, should be his slaves.” He was preparing to do away with their strength; meanwhile, great trouble was borne. It was the conspiracy intrigued by the boycotted (Kharij).
Who is a boycotted (Khariji)?
Ibn-e-A’as) de These were the people who previously supported Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam. When, after the negotiations, both the arbitrators (Abu Musa Ash’ari and Amr declared their fallacious decision, they realized that they had committed blunder by forcing Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam for compromise. They decided that to compromise with such a decision was a wrong step, nay; it was against the commandment of Allah. Hence, the people who had presented the resolution and those who had accepted it were both against the commandment of Allah. They considered themselves also ungrateful to Allah for their wrong views and begged for forgiveness. They considered Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam including his supporters in such harmful movement. Tulaqa Muavia, along with his party, Abu Musa Ash’ari and Amr Ibn-e-A’as as unbelievers and heists. They left Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam army and went away. While going away, they passed a shabby message to Hazrat Alias, “If you also pray for forgiveness, as we did, for accepting the irreligious treaty, we will support you and fight against Muavia in your support. Or else, we will leave you.” All the Muslims resisted their terrible opposition for such a mean and extremely wrong point of view. They declared all the people, excluding their group, unbelievers, the misled ones and Kafirs who did not share their convictions. They announced, “Those who do not agree with us on this point are unbelievers and their blood is cursed.” Now, they tried their level best to convert all the people, whoever met, into their way of thinking. Those who did not come round were killed. In this course of actions, they assassinated Hazrat Abdullah Ibn-e-Khabbablemente very cruelly and killed his wife also by cutting her stomach, bringing the foetus out and cut it into pieces mercilessly. Besides, many other innocent Muslims also were killed. As Hadith says, these were the worst people.
Many Hadiths have criticized them, and enumerable Hadiths have included these criticisms in their books. These Hadiths are present in Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Musnad-e-Ahmad, Tirmizi, Sunan-eNasai, Sunan-e-Ibn-e-Maja, Sunan-e-Isahak Ibn-e-Rahvia, Musnad-eAbi Y’ala, Musnad-e-Yakub Ibn-e-Sufyan, Musnad-e-Bazzaar, Mustadarak Hakim, Mojam Avsat Tabrani etc. Some of them are given below:
These are Marikins, i.e. excommunicated people from the religion. To kill them is one of the chief objectives of the Islamic Law
Translation: I have been ordered to fight wars with three communities; they are: Qasitin, Nakishin and Marikin. Qasitin are the people of Syria (the people who tortured), Nakishin (oath breakers), the people whom he has already described (that they were the people of Jamal) and Marikin, the people of Nehravan (they are the boycotted (Kharji) who were killed at Nehravan at the hands of Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam army). (Kanzul Ummah)
Hazrat Abu Said Khudri has stated, “Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam sent some gold from Yemen which, Hazrat Rasulallah ﷺ distributed among four persons viz (i)A’fra Ibn-e-Habis Hanzala, (ii) Ainiya Ibn-e-Badr Fazari, (iii) Zaid Tai and (iv) Alkma Ibn-e-A’lasha A’amiri.” Some people had grieved on this that the hale and healthy people of Najad were given wealth and others were avoided. Huzur sallallahu alaihi wa aalihi wa sallam best to replied, “I recognize their faith.” Now, a man, with a dense beard, swollen cheeks and forehead and red eyes, came and said, “O Muhammad ﷺ, beware of Allah’s fear.” Huzurid said, “If I neglect Allah’s commandment, who else is going to respect and follow it? The Master of sky considers me to be a truthful and faithful man (Ameen). Do you not take me to be so?” After this, that man went away, and a man from the present ones begged Huzur’s sites permission to kill him. On this he said,
Translation: There will be such persons in his descendants who would read the Holy Quran, but they would not be convinced of it. They will kill Muslims and leave the idol-worshippers. These people will be out of the religion in such a manner as the arrow that comes out after wounding the prey. If I encounter them, I will kill them in such a way as the A’ad Community has been assassinated. Their name and dynasty will be wiped out of the surface of the earth. (Sahih Muslim)
They are Far Ahead in Prayers and Fasting and Recitation of Quran but will be devoid of Faith (Iman)
It has been narrated by Hazrat Abu Said Khudri Radiallahu anhoo that when Huzur sallallahu alaihi wa aalihi wa sallam was distributing something, Zulakhvesara, Bani Tamim’s man, came and said, “O Rasulallah ﷺ, please be just in distribution.” Huzur (sallallahu alaihi wa aalihi wa sallam) said, “May Allah curses you. If I will not follow justice, who else is going to follow it? If I do not practise justice, there will be great harm, and it will be quite unpalatable for me.” On this, Umar Ibn-e-Khattab Radiallahu anhoo requested,
“O Rasulallahu ! Please allow me to cut his throat.” Huzur ﷺ said,
Translation: Let it go. His friends are so much regular in their prayers (Namaz) that you will all consider your prayers to be just nothing in comparison with their prayers. They will recite (Tilawat) Holy Quran. But that will be only an outwardly show. They would not be convinced of it.a These people will be out of Islam in such a manner like an arrow that comes out after wounding the prey. Neither on the blade of the arrow nor on the stick, join edge or feathers, there would be any stain of blood or meat of the pray. Now listen! Among these people, there will be a black man who will have a bump on his chest like a female, which will harass him all the time. These people will rebel when there is discrimination between man and man.
Hazrat Abu Saeed Radiallahu anhoo said, “I have heard this Hadith from Hazrat Rasulallah ﷺ I am a witness that Ali Ibn-e-Talib AlahisSalam had fought with them. I was with them. He ordered to bring the man with that particular mark. On search, he could be found out, and he was presented there. I myself have seen the mark in that man which Huzur ﷺ had described.”
These are the worst people
There are enumerable Hadiths on this topic. Among these, the description is given by Hazrat Abu Zar Ghaffari Radiallahu anhoo also is there, which is included in Sahih Muslim.
Translation: Rasulallah ﷺ said, “After me, there will be some communities in which, the followers will recite Holy Quran (Tilawat), but they will be out of religion like an arrow that hunts the prey but comes out of it stainless. They will never enter in the path of religion. They are the worst people with the worst vices.”
To fight with them is a religious duty
There are proofs in this type of Hadiths that Huzur ﷺ has said, “If they come face to face to me, I will kill them as the whole community of A’ad has been killed.” Huzur ﷺ while talking about the rebels, has said, “When you encounter them, kill them, because, the people who will assassinate them will be rewarded with His favour on the Day of Judgement (Qayamat).” (Sahih Muslim Vol-1)
Huzur ﷺ statement about their assassination is proof that to fight against them is a pious work. The Quranic verse is strong proof of such a fight. Huzur’s iets instruction, “If they come face to face to me, I will kill them as the whole community of A’ad has been extirpated.” is an excellent support to this thinking. This proves that to annihilate them is a great wish of Allah and His Rasulallah ﷺ Hence, at any cost, to destroy them is very necessary. The people who do this will be included in the vicinity of Nabi teet. These are the people who were with Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam and they, by doing away with this group, fulfilled Nabi’s time to wish.
To fight with them is a great holy deed
There is a Hadith in Sunan-e-Abu Da’ud wherein these characteristics of rebels have been described. (i) These people will recite the Holy Quran (Tilawat-e-Quran) regularly, but that will be only a show. (ii) They would speak sweet words, but their behaviour will be bad. (iii) They will be away from religion and never will accept it. This is followed by the following words: “They are the worst with mean characteristics. Congratulations to the people who will kill them.”
Sahih Muslim (Vol-1) narrates that Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam, while describing the nature of rebels to his army, said, “There will be a handicapped man with one hand.” He further said,
Translation: “Had I not been aware of the fact that you would be proudy, I would have told you about Allah’s promise through Huzur ﷺ of what a great reward and good deed would be given to ones who kill these people.”
One description contains Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam following words,
Translation: “Any army, if comes to know about the Allah promise has been conveyed through Huzur ﷺ words about the great reward that can be given to the people who kill these masses, the army would be so much after such killing that the normal sacred deeds and His worship would be totally neglected by them.”
The best community of the time will assassinate them . There are many Hadiths on this subject in Sahih Muslim. It is said that the rebels will raise their heads when there are two clear cut divisions among the Muslims and out of them, the group which will be on the right path, will kill the rebels. They did raise their heads, as it has been said in the Hadiths, during the period when the Muslims were divided into two groups, viz. Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam group and that of Tulaqa Muavia. Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam group killed the rebels. All four directions declared that “Only this group (i.e. Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam group) is on the right path.” In support of this, Imam Navavi said,
Translation: It is proof for Ahl-e-Sunnat that Hazrat Alips and his army were on the right path, whereas, the other group which fought with them, was that of rebels. (Sahih Muslim)
Huzur ﷺ took a promise from Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam that the boycotted should be fought against
Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam has stated in Musnad-e-Bazzar and Maojam Avasat Tabrani as under:
Translation: Rasulallah it has taken a promise to open war against the Nakishin, Qasitin and Marikin. It has already been stated above that Nakishin means those who broke the promise, Qasitin means the cruel and tyrannical, which was the group of Muavia. Marikin were those who were far away from religion. They were the rebellious group of Nehravan.
