His Holy Children
Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir’s respected children’s holy names are given below. They are:
(i) Hazrat Abu Abdullah(ii) Hazrat Imam Jafar Sadiq (iii) Hazrat Abdullah (iv) Hazrat Ibrahim (v) Hazrat Abdullah(vi) Hazrat Ali and (vii) Hazrat Zainab Rizvanullahi Ta’ala Alayhim Ajmain.
His Precious Sayings
(Tashrif-ul-Bashar)
Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir honoured his holy son Hazrat Imam Jafar Sadiqwith the crown of the caliphate. At that time he told his son, “O’ my son! When Allah, the Almighty blesses you with some boon, thank Him by reciting Alhamdolillah, and when He sends some hardship you recite, ‘La Hawla Wala Quwatah Illah Billah Hil Ali ul Azeem’ and when there is a shortage of food, recite, ‘Astagfirullah’.”
Abu Sa’ed Mansoor-bin-Husain has written in his book, “Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir told his holy son Hazrat Imam Jafar Sadiq, ‘O’ my son! Allah, the Almighty has hidden three things in three things, (i)His wish in the obedience of His order. It is for this that none of His orders should be taken lightly. Perhaps He is pleased with this obedience. (ii) He has hidden His wrath in the forbidden deeds. Hence, do not underestimate any sin to be a trifle one. It is possible that His anger is hidden in this small misdeed. And (iii) He has hidden His spiritual seekers (Auliya) in the people at large. So please, do not humiliate any person, for, it is quite possible that he may be a seeker of Allah (Vali). He said, ‘Trial comes to both, the believer and the non-believer. But, the trial on the believer is prevented by the unseen hands.’ Rasul-e-Khuda said, when there is a sound of thunder and lightning bolts, recite this ‘Allahumma La Taqtulna Bi-Ghadabika Wa La Tuhlikna Bi-Adhabik’. He said that Rasul-e-Akram recited the following prayer at the time of thunder Subhana-Aladhee Yusabihu Ar-Radu bi Hamdihi Wa Mala’ikatu min Khiyfatihi.’ )))
He said, “All worship and devotion are washed out by slander. defamation, vicious plotting and humiliation of others. Keep yourself away from the hatred and vices because these two are the gateways of all evils. You take this finite world just as a station and your property assets as if they are given to you in a dream. When you awake, you find your hand empty.” It is said that when a real faith towards Allah, the Almighty, enters a human heart, all other things, except that of mother’s love, are thrown out of it. The people of the path do not attach themselves to the worldly things due to its finiteness. It is said that in the heart, that has been given to by Allah, keep only Allah, the Almighty. When the true seer experiences the contentment, he is absolutely saturated and looks only towards Allah, the Creator.
At the time of his Demise
Hazrat Imam Jafar Sadiq says, “At the time of my holy father’s sad demise, I was with him. He gave me some instructions regarding the final bath, shroud and the grave. I told him, ‘O my holy father; you look better than before since the day you are ill. And at this time, I do not see any sign of death on you.’ He told me, ‘O my loving son! Do you not hear Hazrat Ali Ibn-e-Husain from behind this wall calling me, ‘Ay Muhammad, hurry up?”” (Tashrif-ul-Bashar)
The Shroud (Kafan)
He had wished, and told Hazrat Imam Jafar Sadiq, in his will that his dead body should be covered with the same cloth on which he used to offer his prayers. Hence, Hazrat Imam Jafar Sadiq gave him his final bath and, according to his will, covered his holy body in the cloth he wished. (Ja’ame-ul-manaqib and Tashrif-ul-Bashar)
His Holy Exit
There is a controversy about the date of Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir’s death. According to popular belief, he passed away on 7th Zilhajj, Hijri 114 on Monday at the age of 57 years during the reign of Hisham Ibn-e-Abdul Maliq Amvi. (Masalik-ul-Salikin)
His Holy Shrine
His holy shrine is in the public graveyard, Jannat-ul-Baqi, near the holy shrine of Hazrat Imam Hasan.
The seal on his grave is; ‘Rabbi la tadharni fardaw.’
THE PARAGON OF MERCY
“Indeed, I am a mercy gifted (to the worlds),” the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said. Mercy is the defining character of the esteemed Prophetﷺ; he is mercy incarnate. God sent Prophet Muhammadﷺ for no other purpose but to bring God’s mercy to all creatures. God say, And, (O Esteemed Messenger,) We have not sent you but as a mercy for all the worlds. [Q.21:107.] Thus, the mercy of Prophet Muhammad ﷺis a universal blessing which encompasses all human beings, irrespective of their religion, race and gender.

Miracles
Treatment of a Mad Man
The experts of Islamic law and the practitioners of Islamic mysticism (Sufism) both unanimously agree that from top to bottom Imam Baqir was a unique personality. It has been given in the Hadith that, the recitations/secret lessons that have been given to him is so miraculous that if a mad man drinks the water-on which these secret lessons are recited- he would be recovered and become normal. (Masa’alik-ul-Salikin, Khazinat-ul-Ashfia and Jama’amana’akib)
Blind, turned into Sighted. Abu Bashir narrates that once he asked Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir,”Are you Rasul-e-Khuda’s heir?” He said, “Yes.” I said, “Was Rasule-Khuda Jami-ul-Ambia’s heir?” He said, “Yes.” I said, “Are you Jami-ul-Ambia’s knowledge, heir?” He said, “Yes. In fact, I am like that.” Then I asked, “Can you bring a dead to life, recover the sick, blind to sighted and can you show what do the people do in their houses and what they eat?” He said, “Yes. By the grace and order of Allah, the Almighty, we can do that.” Then he said, “Come near me. (At this time, Abu Bashir was blind.)” When I went near him, he rubbed his holy hand on my face. At once, I could see the sky, the earth, and the mountains. My eyes were empowered with full vision. Then he said, “Do you wish that you remain sighted like this and your accounts of good and bad deeds are maintained by Allah, the Almighty? Or do you want to be ugly, blind and then get heaven?” I said, “I want heaven.” He again moved his holy hand on my face, and I again became blind.” (Shava’ahid-ul-Nubuwat)
His vision of the unseen
It is said by a person, “We, about fifty people, were in the presence of Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir, son of Imam Zainul Abedin. All of a sudden, a fellow, who was dealing in dry date, came from Kufa. He looked at Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir and said, “A particular person in Kufa believes that with you, there is always an angel, sent by Allah, who discriminates the believers from the non-believers and your enemies from your friends. He also introduces them to you.’ On hearing this, Imam Muhammad Baqir asked him about his profession. He said, ‘I am selling wheat.’ He said, ‘You are lying.’ He said, ‘At times, I sell barley also.’ Imam Muhammad Baqir said, ‘Your confession is not true. Your profession is to sell date-seeds.’ He asked, ‘Who told you?’ Huzur said, ‘There is an angel sent by Allah who makes me aware of the friend and the enemy. And now, you listen. You will die of this particular type of disease.’ The narrator says, “When I reached Kufa, I asked about that person. People said that he had passed away before three days. When I asked about the disease of his death, people told me that he died of the very same disease which Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir, son of Imam Zainul Abedin had forecasted.” Bite (Shava’ahid-ul-Nubuvvat) 29
The good news about assets and kingdom anyone. Once during Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir’s holy presence in Masjide-Nabvi, after his holy father, Hazrat Imam Zainul Abedingt breathed his last. Dawood Ibne Sulaiman and Mansoor Dawaniqi came to the Masjid-eNabvi. Dawood sat beside Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir, and Mansoor Dawaniqi sat at the other place. Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqirt said, “Why does Dawaniqi not come before me?” Dawood said, ‘Huzur, he has an excuse.’ He said, ‘The time is not very far away when Dawaniqi will be the ruler of the people of Allah. He will be the king of the East and the West. He will have a long life, and he will gather more treasure than had acquired in the past.’ Dawood got up and conveyed this good news to Dawaniqi. Then, Dawaniqi came near Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir and requested, ‘Huzur, your dignity and the majesty prevented me from coming near you. I was afraid of your wrath and glory.’ Then, telling Huzur about the good news given by Dawood, he said, ‘What is this I hear? He said, ‘What you heard is the truth. And it will happen like that only.’ Then Mansoor Dawaniqi asked, ‘Will there be our rule before that of you?’ He said, ‘Yes. It will be before that of ours.’ Then he raised a question, ‘Will my rule be finished immediately after me or will my descendants also inherit it?’ Huzur said, ‘Yes. Your descendants also will inherit it.’ Again he asked, ‘Will our power continue for a long time or will it go to the hands of Bani Umaiyya?’ He said, ‘Your kingdom will last for a long time and your sons, as heirs, will receive it. Your sons will enjoy power as the children enjoy playing with the balls. They will also declare that this is the boon we have received from our father.’ So much so that the time came when Allah, the Almighty, blessed Mansoor Dawaniqi with the kingship. When he took the reins of kingdom in his hands, the people remembered the prophecy of Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir and, their belief about its truthfulness became stronger, because, the events took place exactly in the same form as Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir forecasted. e
Prophecy
Hazrat Imam Jafar Saadiq
describes, “My holy father, during aparticular year, was sitting in a general meeting. He leaned his holy head towards the earth, and after taking it up, he said, ‘O’ people! What will happen of you when a cruel person will come with an army of four thousand people and create a massacre? You will see such evilous souls to whom you will not be able to defeat. And this event will take place next year. So try your best to protect yourselves. You give heed to the forecast that I made because it shall happen.” Residents of Medina did not give any importance to these words and said that it could never happen as forecasted. Hence when the particular year came, he left Medina with his family and the community of Bani Hashim. After his departure, Nafai Ibnul Raziq entered Medina with an army of four thousand soldiers and kept on destroying Medina for three days, by killing enumerable people. The incidents took place exactly as Hazrat Imam Baqir had forecast.
(Tashrif-ul-Bashar)
Humeirah had described in Kitab-ul-Masail that Zaid bin Hazim said, “When I was with Hazrat Muhammad Baqir, his brother, Zaid bin Ali, passed from there. Hazrat said, ‘See, he will depart to Kufa and fight there, and his head will be moved along in the people.’ It exactly happened as had been forecast by Hazrat Muhammad Baqir. “”
Plotting of Murder
(Tashrif-ul-Bashar)
It has been stated that once, the then king, called Hazrat Imam Baqir through someone with the view to killing him. But when he came near the king, the king was very polite, humble and begged for forgiveness. Besides, he showed great honour towards him and presented many gifts. With great respect, he sent him back. When people asked the king that his intention behind calling him was his murder, why did he not do so and respected him so very humbly and politely? He said, “When he came near me, I saw two very ferocious lions on both of his sides. I heard as if they were telling me, if you harm even a little to him, we will kill you.’
(Kashaf-ul-Mahjub)
The building will turn into debris
There is a description that once, when he was at the Darul Imarat Hisham Ibn-i-Abdul Maliq, which was gorgeous, he said, “This building will be destroyed and its debris also will be removed from here. People were surprised to hear this. And, when Hisham died, his son, Valid, brought the building to the ground and it happened exactly as had been said by the Hazrat.” (Marj-ul-Behrin)
THE MOST DIGNIFIED IN SPEECH
The Prophet ﷺ was known for his truthfulness and integrity. When we look at his personal conduct, we see that he was the most dignified in speech and that he spoke only to seek the pleasure of God. The Prophet ﷺ was measured in his speech, and he would not speak fast but at a balance and moderate pace such that if one were to count his words, they could be counted. Anyone who listened to him could understand him, and he would even speak to others in their own dialects.*
The Prophetﷺ would remain silent most of the time and would not talk excessively. His words were concise but full of meaning, and he would never raise his voice when speaking, but he would smile and make others feel at ease. He would never cut anyone off whilst they are speaking unless he would forbid them from something wrong. If he heard someone say something weird or strange, he would tell them to relate only what they saw or heard.²
