Imam Husain AlahisSalam is the Imam of all the Muslims

Imam Husain AlahisSalam is the Imam of all the Muslims

has been given in the above-noted quotation that Saiyedna Imam is the leader of great calibre and patience. He confronted the enemy with great bravery and zest. It should not be misunderstood that he was the leader only of the crusaders (Mujahideens). He is the leader of all the people who are on the right path, who have patience and also those who follow Islam, including the whole of the human world. In reply to Kufa people’s letters, he defined the term leader (Imam), in writing. He was one of the strong advocates of this definition. He writes:

Translation: “I swear on my being, according to me, the leader is one who has firm faith in the Holy Book and lives his life through its commands. He should stand in favour of justice and be watchful in giving rights to the people. He is the one who bestows his life in the way of Allah. “

(Al-Husain Vol. 2)

It has been stated at the beginning of the chapter that the leader or the guide should be worthy of imitation. Is there Muslim who did not accept Hazrat Rasulallah Nabi Pakﷺ as a real guide or leader?

In front of all the Companions, his children and all the Muslims, in the field of Arafat-the biggest congregation of Muslims-Hazrat Rasulallah ﷺ gives the following instructions:Translation: “O people, I am leaving two things with you which, if you hold firmly, you will never be misled. They are the Holy Book and my lineage.” (Sunan Tirmizi Vol. 2)

Thus, Hazrat Imam Husain and his pious descendents are the people who should always be followed. And, one who has accepted their way of life will never be misled or misguided.

Now, it can be realized what a great prestigious and highly regarded is the personality of Hazrat Hasanain Karimain. In the same way, his descendents also are equally the true followers of his pious tradition and successful in achieving the higher and higher levels of humanity and spirituality. It is for this that, all the Muslims address them as the pious leaders. Had there not been any description of their greatness in the Hadiths, even then, all the Muslims taking the oath of allegiance to them is sufficient evidence of their highest position. These are not the laymen, but, crores of them are great learned scholars of Hadiths and experienced people of the path. It is absolutely right to say that Hazrat Imam Hasan AlahisSalam and Hazrat Imam Husain AlahisSalam leadership has been accepted unanimously because enumerable people believe in this concept. Not only the common people at large but the people of classic level too, whose opinion is always followed unanimously, accept them as their leaders and guides. Muslims of all the faiths like, Hanafi, Maliki, Sha’afi’i, Hambali, Qadri, Chishti, Sohravardi, Nakshabandi, Shi’a, Sunni, people of Hadith and others, Deobandi, Barelvi, in short, people of all the creeds and faiths, believe them to be their spiritual leaders. This unanimity of the community is an important aspect. It has been narrated by Hazrat Ibn-e-Abbas etc. that Nabi had said, “My followers will never be pleased with the misguidance.

Hence, the tradition of taking Hazrat Hasanain Karmain AlahisSalam Imams in speaking and writing has been continued since ages. The unique qualities of the Imam have been described in the Hadiths above.
