Short intro of Hazrat Shaikh Shahabuddin Umar Suhrawardi Rehmatullah alaih.

*Hazrat Shaikh Shahabuddin Umar Suhrawardi RA* was born in Suhraward, Iran (1145CE). His father name was Hazrat Muhammad Bin Abdullah al-Bakari. The lineage of his ancestry traces its origin from the first caliph of Islam named Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique. Hazrat Shaikh Shahabuddin Suhrawardi was the earliest preacher of Suhrawardi order in the middle east and Central Asia. He learned the teachings of spirituality and mysticism under the guidance of his uncle Hazrat Abul Najib Abdul Qaahir Suhrawardi who later on appointed him as his main disciple. Hazrat Shaikh Shahabuddin Suhrawardi also had learned the teachings of Sufism from the great Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani popularly known as Gaus-e Azam.

Hazrat Shaikh Shahabuddin Suhrawardi is credited for erecting three hostels (Ribat) during his life time named Ribat-e-Nasri, Ribat-e-Bistami, Ribat-e-Mamoonia. One of the finest work of the saint named “Awaarif-ul-Maarif” is still present in the modern day.

Hazrat Shaikh Shahabuddin Suhrawardi appointed numerous disciples. Few of the famous disciples of the saint are: Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani (Multan, Pakistan), Hazrat Nooruddin Mubarak Ghaznavi (Mehrauli, Delhi), Hazrat Kamaluddin Ahmad Yahya Maneri (Maner, Bihar), Shamsul Arifeen Hazrat Shah Turkman Bayabani (Shahjahanabad, Delhi) and many more.

Hazrat Shaikh Shahabuddin Suhrawardi left this temporary abode on 1 Muharram 632Hijri (1234CE). He lies buried in Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq.
