Sir Syed Ahmed Khan –
17th October birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan founder of Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh. Lot of posts are available on fb today regarding his contributions in the field of education but i would like to discuss an important aspect of his personality that is Ishq-e-Rasul Paak (sallallaho alaihi wa aalihi wa salam) that is love for the Holy Prophet peace be upon him and his progeny. He was not a so called ashiq-e-rasul like those who in the name of Ishq-e-Rasul charge lakhs of rupees for a single sitting of mawalid naatkhwani and takreers. Anyways a European William Muir wrote a very controversial book on Prophet of Islam titled Life of Muhammad. This book was full of lies and false accusations that the reader will have an extremely negative picture of Prophet Muhammad and Islam. Sir Syed Ahmed Khan decided to refute this book point by point. In one of his letters to his colleagues, he says that i will not be able to sleep until and unless i have refuted this book. As most of the sources cited in the book were not available in India and were from British library, He sold his property and went to England to consult the references and than he wrote the refutation titled Khutbat-e-Ahmadiya. Such was his love for the Holy Prophet (s.a.w).
Unfortunately Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was declared kafir by famous scholar Ahmed Raza Khan of barelliy. When Maulvi Ahmad Raza Khan went for Haj he brought a fatwa of kufr on Sir Syed. When Sir Syed Ahmed Khan came to knew about this he smiled and said “Humara Kufr Bhi Bahut Mubarak Hai Logon Ko Haji Bana Deta Hai.”
Sir Syed was from the progeny of the Holy Prophet. He was a Rizvi Syed. His Shajra is written on his grave. May Allah elevate his rank in jannah aameen.
