Three groups during the time of Jang-e-Jamal and Jang-e-Siffin

During the Jang-e-Siffin (its narration is given in the following pages) Musalmans were arranged orderly in three groups as they were categorized in the Jang-e-Jamal. Some people were not in favour of taking part in the war. Of course, it was quite fair to fight with the people who were opposing the Caliph. But, later on, they came to know about his fact. Hence, these people were helpless. Hazrat Sa’ad Ibn-e-Vakkas Radiallahu anhoo Hazrat Usama Radiallahu anhoo, Hazrat Ibn-e-Umarin Radiallahu anhoo etc. were from among them. But, when Hazrat Ibn-e-Umaraming came to know that the people who were fighting against Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam were all rebels, his attitude changed. He stated, “I would never repent for anything, but I am really repenting on my behaviour that, why I did not stand with Hazrat Alibi and fight against the rebels.” (Jama-ul-Fawaid)

i. Hazrat Ibn-e-Umar’s this repentance was inevitable, because, he had realized that during the Jang-e-Siffin, his keeping away from the support to Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam, along with others like him in fighting with the enemy, encouraged the rivals. The result of this was that Non – legal rule (Ghair Rashid) was firmly established. This kept away the administration of governmental set up from the paradigm of Prophethood.

ü. Some people fought against Khalifa-e-Bar Haqq Amir-ulMominin Sayyiduna Ali Murtuza AlahisSalam. Hadith describes these people as rebels. This title does not apply to Hazrat Ayesha SalamUllahAlaiha Hazrat Talha Radiallahu anhoo and Hazrat Zubair Radiallahu anhoo because; these gentries were not ready to fight. Of course, Hazrat Talha and Hazrat Zubair formed their army. But it was ‘not for fighting against Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam; it was for taking revenge of Hazrat Uthman’ assassination. This army dashed against the Caliphate and war was declared. But in the very beginning of the fight, Hazrat Talha Radiallahu anhoo and Hazrat Zubair Radiallahu anhoo resigned from that. They realized their mistake, were ashamed and joined hands with each other. Hazrat Ayesha SalamUllahAlaiha was ready to withdraw but, people prevented her on false oath. She also was against the war. But the people with malicious interests succeeded in their mission.

Yes, their army was really rebellious, and their fight was justified because it was the Holy Quran’s commandment.

One of the groups’s cooperated the Khalifa-e-Bar Haqq Amir-ulMominin Sayyiduna Ali Murtuza AlahisSalam and fought tooth and nail with the enemies. These Ansars were the people who protected and advocated the truth. Almost all the Ansars and all the significant persons of Medina were in that group. Besides, those people who could value the importance of Khilafat-e-Rashid were also in this group. The people against the protector of truths were only those who were against this group and were misled by the rebels and people with shabby interests. The people against Khalifa-e-Rasul Saiyedna Hazrat Ali Murtuza were, either Muallifat-ul-Qulub or Tulka who accepted Islam on the day of Mecca’s victory or, those whose dear and near were assassinated by the hands of Hazrat Ali Sher-e-Khuda AlahisSalam in the battle or, those who were bent upon establishing their permanent rule or, those who were Munafiq and rustic people and their chief interest and purpose was to grab other’s property.
