THE PROPONENT OF LOVE
Prophet Muhammad taught that the seed of faith is love. This seed of faith is the love of God, His Prophet, love for the people of God and love of all good actions that are loved by Him. He said that no person can be a true believer until he loves him more than anyone in creation. True faith is rooted in love and without it, it cannot grow into a fruitful tree that gives good to everyone around it.
The Prophet himself is characterised by his love for God and the believers. Concerning his love for the believers, God says in the Qur’an: Surely, a (Glorious) Messenger from amongst yourselves has come to you. Your suffering and distress (becomes) grievously heavy on him. (O humankind,) he is ardently desirous of your (betterment and guidance. And) he is most (deeply) clement and merciful to the believers. [Q.9:128.]
