Hazrat Musa and Hazrat Khidr AlahisSalam

The meeting of Sayyidina Musa AlaihisSalam and Khidr AlahisSalam is recounted in Surah Al-Kahf. Its verse 60 tells us that Musa AlaihisSalam began the journey with his companion and they had to reach point fish will be alive.AlahisSalam While the fish took its way into the sea. Later, when they sat down for breakfast and Musa AlaihisSalam asked for the fish, the young man, his companion, remembered that a wondrous thing had happened. The fish had unexpectedly revived and taken its course in the seas. Musa AlaihisSalam exclaimed it was that place which he was seeking, so they retraced their footsteps. .

They found one of Our servants whom We had granted mercy from Us, and We had taught Him knowledge from Our presence. Musa said to him, “May I follow you, so that you may teach me of what you have been taught of right judgement. He said, “Surely you will not be able to bear with me patiently. And how can you have patience in that you have not encompassed in (your) knowledge?” He said, ‘If Allah will, you shall find me patient; and I shall not disobey you in any affair.” He said, “If you follow me, question me not about anything until I myself mention it to you about it.” (Al-Kahf, 18:65-70)

Musa asked, “O Lord! How may I reach him?” Allah said, “Take a fish and put it in a basket (and go ahead) wherever you lose the fish, there you will find him.” next morning , Musa asked the young man So he took a fish, put in a basket and set out, Yusha’ bin Nun was with him. They reached a rock, placed their heads on it and went to sleep. The fish showed restlessness in the basket and emerged from it and into the sea, taking. its path in it as if in a tunnel (because) Allah stopped the current of water on both sides of the fish. When Musa arose, his companion forgot to tell us about the fish and so they carried on with their journey that day and the night. The . . (Bring us our breakfast, truly, we have suffered much fatigue in this journey.)

asked him to seek . So the young man said to him Did you see when.we took . Musa had not felt fatigued’ until he had passed the place that ‘Allah had . i i refuge on the rock then I indeed forgot the fish and none but Satan made me forget that I should speak of it-and it took its way into the sea; what a wonder!)

There was a tunnel for the fish but for Musa and the young man there was astonishment. Musa said, (That is what we were seeking!) So they retraced their footsteps till they came back to the rock. There they found a man covered with a garment. Musa greeted him and Al-Khidr asked, “Is there such a greeting in your land?” Musa introduced himself, “I am Musa.” He asked, “Musa of Banu Isra’il?” “Yes.” Answered Musa, and said, “I have come to you that you may teach me from the knowledge that you have been taught of right judgement.”

Al-Khidr said, listen to the ! (Surely, you will not be able to bear with me patiently.)

“O Musa, I have some knowledge from the knowledge of Allah that He has bestowed upon me and which He has not taught you. And you have some of His knowledge that He has bestowed upon you but which He has not taught me.” Musa said lol… all sha ulipitwe (If Allah will, you shall find me patient; and I shall not disobey you in any affair.) Al-Khidr said to him:

(If you follow me, question me not about anything until I myself mention it to you about it,)

They went along the sea coast and a ship passed by. They requested the crew to take them on board. They recognised Al-Khidr and let them board the ship without charge. When they had boarded it, Musa saw that Al-Khidr had pulled out of the planks of the ship with an adze. So, he said to him, “These people have taken us on board free of

charge, yet you have damaged their ship to drown the people.”

You have done a grievous thing, indeed

Al-Khidr said,

Did I not say that you would not be able to bear with me patiently Sayyidina Musa AlaihisSalam said:

Reproach me not for what I forgot and oppress me not in my affair

They both alighted from the ship and walked ahead on the shore. Al-Khidr saw a boy playing with other boys and he got hold of his head and pulled i out with his hands, killing him instantly. Musa could not help say:

Have you slain an innocent person who has slain no one? Certainly you have done a horrible thing.

Al-Khidr said:

Did I not say to you that you would not be able to bear with me patiently? Musa said – and more strongly than before:

If I question you about anything after this, keep not company with me; indeed you have received an excuse from me.

So they departed till they came to the people of a township, they asked its people for food, but they refused to entertain them as guests. They found therein a wall about to fall down.

So Al-Khidr set it up; with his hands, Musa said to him, “We came to these people but they did not feed us or entertain us.” And he added:

If you had wished, you could have taken a wage for it. Al-Khidr said,

This is the parting between me and you. Now I will inform you the interpretation of that you were not able to bear patiently. As for the boat, it belonged to poor people, who worked upon the sea, and I intended to damage it for there was behind them a king who was seizing every boat forcibly. And as for the lad, his parents were believers, and we feared lest he should oppress them by insolence and disbelief. So we intended that their Lord might give to them in exchange one better than he in purity, and nearer in affection. And asfor the wall, it belonged to two orphan lads in the city and there was beneath it a treasure belonging to them, and their father was a righteous man. So your Lord intended that they should attain their maturity and then take out their treasure as a mercy from your Lord, and I did not do it of my own accord. That is the interpretation of what you were not able to bear patiently,
