Qasis ul Quran :: Prophet Hizqeel AlahisSalam

Muhammad Ibn Ishaq has said on the authority of Wahb bin Munabbi tha after the death of Kalib bin Yufna, Hizqil bin Buza was sent as Prophet over the & Banu Isra’il

Ibn Ishaq has said that there was a plague and the people had fled from it to a highland. Allah said to them, “Die!” and they died all of them. They lay dead and ages passed over them until Hizqil came that way. He looked at them and was lost in deep thought. He was asked, “Would you like that Allah revive them while you observe the process.” He affirmed that he would like to witness that. So he was asked to call the bones to wear the flesh over them and join the muscles together and he did as he was instructed and took the name of Allah, the Exalted. They all stood revived and in one voice extoled Allah Akbar postal (Allah is the Greatest).)

This incident is referred to in the Qurān thus:

not grateful, Have you (O Prophet) not considered those who went forth from their homes in their thousands fearful of death? Then Allah said to them, “Die“. Then He gave them life. Surely Allah is Bountiful to mankind, but most of mankind are (Al-Baqarh, 2:243)

Ibn Abbas, Murrah, Ibn Mas’ud and other Companions within have said that the people of Dawardan are the ones who had died and were revived. According to them, when they were afflicted with plague, some of them fled from there and camped outside the town. Those who had remained within the town died except for a few of them, while the ones whº had fled were all safe. As a result , they imagined that those that had fled had done sensible thing and they all resolved that if that happens again, they would all emulate those who had fled.

Next year, plague struck them again and they all fled as they had resolved. However, all of them perished and years after that, when Prophet Hizqil AlahisSalam passed by, they were revived in the valley Afih or Ufayh (ent) as we have narrated above.

When they arose, they called out:

You are without blemish, O Allah. Praise belongs to You. There is no God except You. There are different opinions about number of them.

Imam Ahmad, Bukhari and Musim have transmitted a Hadith narrated by Abdullah bin Abbas that Umar Ibn Al-Khattab had departed Syria and when he was at Sargh, the commanders of the army, Abu Ubaydah and others met him ard informed him that an epidemic had broken out at Syria. He consulted the Muhajirs and the Ansar but they could not give him a unanimous opinion. However, Abdur Rahrman bin ‘Awf came there, having accomplished some task which had kept him away. He said that he had some knowledge about that. He said that he had heard the Messenger of Allab say, “When it (plague) breaks out and you are there, do not run away from it and if you hear about it spreading in a land, do not go to it”.Bukhari (5729), Muslim (208), Muwatta, Malik (22)

Umar a thanked Allah for that and returned to his place.

Imam Ahmad has said that Abdur Rahman bin Awf informed Umar while he had gone to Syria that the Holy Prophet hy had said, “It is this disease ‘with which people before you were punished. If you hear about its outspread in a land do not go to it, and if it strikes the land where you are staying, do not go out from there fleeing it.” Umare in thus returned from there.Bukhari (5729), Muslim (208), Muwatta, Malik (22)

Ibn Ishaq has said that it is not known how long Hizqil stayed with Banu Isra’il and when he died.

The Banu Isra’il deviated from the right path after Hizqil died. They began to worship idol and had one whom they called Ba’l.

Qasis of Prophet Ilyas (AlaihisSalam), Prophet Alyasa (AlaihisSalam) and Prophet Yooshe (AlaihisSalam)

Qasis of Prophet Ilyas (a.s.), Prophet Alyasa (a.s.) and Prophet Yooshe (a.s.)

Hazrat Ilyas a.s son of Infaad ibn Haroon a.s is among the messengers who was sent on a mission(mursil). For 22 years Ilyas a.s invited people towards Tawheed and religious laws of Moosa a.s . His appearance was in year 1079 BC and ascension to heaven was in 1056 bc. Hazrat Ilyas a.s warned Bani Israel to discontinue their disobedience towards God. Ahab the king of Bani Israil perceived and felt that Hazrat Ilyas a.s is against his rule and ill treated him.
After several warning when they continued to disobey him Allah stopped the rain and people suffered from draught and death. Life of the people became very difficult
Ahab got frustrated and decided to kill Hazrat Ilyas a.s. With the will and wish of Allah, Jibrail a.s informed hazrat Ilyas a.s to get apart from his people and travel to Jordan.
Hazrat Ilyas a.s moved to Jordan and lived there for the period of time. People of Amman welcomed him with a worthy hospitality .He lived there for a duration of time.
Later he went near a township where he saw a woman gathering firewood. Ilyas a.s requested the women to give him something to eat and drink. The woman made the dough of flour and prepared three breads.
Time passed and son of that woman died .The mother was lamenting and moaning and requested Ilyas a.s to give her son a new life. Ilyas took the dead body aside and prayed to God when the almighty accepted his prayers and her son was given a new life.
The mother got happy and told Ilyas a.s “surely you are a prophet of God who could perform this miracle”. Ahab, the king and his wife Izabel very unsecured for their kingship” and plotted to kill Ilyas a.s. Therefore Ilyas a.s with command of God commissioned to emigrate to Be’arsaba.
Forty days he was in his way till he reached to Jabl Hureeb and decided to rest in a cave when he was addressed by Allah “O Ilyas get up and witness the manifestations, grace and glory of God. Hazrat Ilyas a.s stood up and observed the greatness of nature when earth quake overtook which shattered the stones.
He was addressed “O Ilyas be in peace we afflicted Bani Israel with a painful punishment for their disobedience and order you to go to Damascus and meet ‘Khazal’ and select him as a sovereign power and meet Alyas’a and he will be your successor and tell him to kill the transgressors”.
Ilyas a.s hit the river with his turban and the river broke down into two. Speaking with
Alyas’a he entered the river .Later a means of riding descended from heaven when Hazrat Ilyas a.s rode upon it and ascended to heaven. Alyas’a along with the other companions and pupils watched the ascension of hazrat Ilyas a.s till he disappeared from their sight. Hazrat Qizr a.s was appointed to guide the people in the sea and oceans.
When hazrat Yunus a.s was a child Ilyas a.s lived in the house of his mother for six months and at that time Yunus a.s died. His mother pleaded hazrat Ilyas a.s to pray God and to bestow him with new life. Ilyas a.s prayed and Yunus a.s was bestowed with new life again.
Prophet Alyasa a.s.
Prophet Alyas’a a.s bin Shanat a.s who is also one of the messengers of Bani Israel invited the people to the religious laws of Hazrat Moosa a.s , cured the sick people, gave life to dead and also solved many other problems. In Hebrew he is called Alyasha or Elisha and in Arabic he is called Alyas’a.
He appeared as a prophet in the year 1056 B.C. He was among the students of hazrat Ilyas a.s who granted him the trusteeship of messengers. They passed together the river of Jordan. Later he witnessed the ascension of hazrat ilyas a.s to the heaven.
Just like hazrat Moosa a.s.he split the river when he hit the river with hazrat Ilyas a.s turban. The students of hazrat Ilyas a.s sighted the miracle of hazrat Alyas’a and comprehended that he is the successor of hazrat Ilyas a.s.
At the time of his death the king of Bani Israil known as Yahavash visited him bedside to take advice about his successor. Alyasa ordered to bring some arrows and a bow. He put the arrow on the bow string and told Yahavash to put hands on his hands and shoot the arrow and to follow wherever it proceeded through which he would overcome his hardships and rule as the king of Damascus.
Yahavash shot the arrow three times. Alyas’a said that this is the sign that three times he would dominate them. Saying this he died.
Hazrat Yooshe a.s.
He is among the great prophets of Allah. He was the son of hazrat AFRAIM IBN YUSUF IBN YAQUB IBN IS’HAQ IBN IBRAHIM. Yooshe a.s in the age of 97 became the successor of hazrat Moosa a.s.
Hazrat Yooshe a.s lived for 120 years. He had a broad chest, middle height and spoke Hebrew language. For 23 years he preached his people and invited people to the religion of Hazrat Moosa a.s.
Allah commanded Yooshe a.s to lead the Bani-Israel to pass from the river of Jorden and guide them to the holy place and Canaan(Canaan is an ancient term for a region roughly corresponding to present-day Palestine including the West Bank, Jordan, southern and coastal Syria and Lebanon continuing up to the border of modern Turkey.)and Baithul Moqaddas(Jerusalem)among them.
He guided the followers of Hazrat Moosa according to the religious laws and ways taught by Hazrat Moosa a.s.
After crossing river Jorden they reached Jaljaal where he circumcised all men .After six days they conquered the city Ariha.
Prophet Yooshe a.s said this is the sanctuary of God. He advised to be humble and seek forgiveness for their sins while entering the sanctuary of Ariha. The scholars of Bani Israel followed the orders of hazrat Yooshe a.s and the ignorant people among them acted just opposite his commands. All the 74000 of ignorant people were killed when God inflicted disease of plague on them.
At the time of Yooshe a.s death he called the chieftains of Bani Israil and told them his will and he spoke. “O people you witnessed the blessings of God, thank His blessings and all worship one and single God and never dignify and praise other than him.
His followers replied “O Yooshe we never leave the obedience of God and we never accept the other gods other than Almighty. At that time Yooshe a.s wrote these words in a book and kept beside the book of religious laws. He lifted a big stone and told his people “this the witness among all the tribes” and bid them farewell. And after that he got ill and in 1693 BC he passed away.
