21 Ramadan Martyrdom of Lion of Allah & Commander of Faithful Maula Ali AlaihisSalam

The commander of faithful, the father of eloquence, the caretaker of the orphans, the shelter of the needy and the perfect of all humans after Prophet Muhammadﷺ. Born in the House of Allah, Holy Ka’bah, and martyred in the House of Allah, Masjid-e-Kufa. He died on the 21st day of Ramadan 40 A.H.

Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (May Allah be pleased with him) had prophesied his departure from this world several days before hand, and on the day of his martyrdom he mysteriously desired his sons Imam Hasan and Imam Hussain (May Allah be pleased with them) to offer their morning prayers in the house and not to accompany him as they usually did to the mosque of Kufa. When Imam Ali was leaving his abode, the household birds began making a great noise and when one of Imam Ali’s servants attempted to quieted them, Imam Ali said, “Leave them alone, for their cries are only lamentations foreboding my death.”

On the 19th of the month of Holy Ramadan of the year 40 A.H, Imam Ali came to the mosque in Kufa for his morning prayers. Himself gave the call for prayer (Azaan) and became engaged in leading the congregation and was offering Nafilah prayer, during the second prostration. Abd-al-Rahman ibn Muljam pretending to pray, stood just behind Imam Ali, and when he was in a state of prostration, Abd-al-Rahman ibn Muljam dealt a heavy stroke with his three days poisoned sword, inflicting a deep wound on Imam Ali’s head.

This was the time when Imam Ali (May Allah honor his face) uttered his famous words : “Fuzto bi-Rab-il-Ka’bah” – “By the Lord of Ka’bah, I am successful”.
Our Beloved Prophetﷺ had prophesied the assassination of Imam Ali and his issues. Regarding his martyrdom, Messenger of Allahﷺ had said, “O Ali! I see before my eyes thy beard dyed with the blood of thy forehead.”

They assassinated Imam Ali at his finest time – the hour of standing before Allahﷻ, the Exalted, during a prayer of submission, in the best of days, while fasting during the month of Ramadan; during the most glorious Islamic duties, while preparing to wage a holy war, and in the highest and most pure divine places, the Mosque of Kufa.

May joy be to Amir al-Muminin Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (May Allah exalt his face) and a blessed afterlife!
The crime of assassinating Imam Ali remains one of the most cruel, brutal and hideous, because it was not committed against one man, but against the whole rational Islamic leadership. By assassinating Imam Ali, they actually aimed at assassinating the message, the history, the culture and the nation of Muslims embodied in the personality of him. In doing so, the Islamic nation lost its guide of progress, and at the most wondrous opportunity in its life after the Holy Prophetﷺ.

Imam Ali suffered from his wound for three days, and He passed away on 21st of the month of Ramadan at an age of 63 years.

To him we belong and to him shall we return.

May Allah bless us from the knowledge, wisdom, secrets, aid and understanding of Imam Ali(May Allah be pleased with him and us).. Aameen!

Maula Ali attained high station with Allah..

One of the best narrations ever, and it is sound/authentic (Sahih):

Sayyiduna ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, Alayhis Salam, said concerning his spiritual companionship [Suhba] with the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ,

“I was still a young child and the Prophet ﷺ took me into his custody. I used to cling to him and he used to feed me.

As I grew up, he saw that I never uttered a lie, nor did I ever try to deceive people.

It was because in my eyes, the Prophet ﷺ was my guiding star, and I used to follow his actions and deeds very carefully.

You could say, I was attached to him like a foal of camel are attached to their mother.

On top of that, he ﷺ used to place before me high values of morality, and he ﷺ used to advise me to follow them.

Every year, he would spend a few days at the grotto of the Mount Hira and I used to accompany him.

In fact, I was his only companion then, and nobody was permitted to enter or meet him there at the grotto of Hira.

It was there that I used to see the light of revelation come down and I used to smell the fragrance of Prophet-hood upon the Prophet Muhammad.

Once the Prophet ﷺ himself told me:

“O Ali! You have attained a very high station with Allah. You see what I see and you hear what I hear.”

(Recorded in the Hilyatul Awliyah of Imam Abu Nu’aym Al-Asbahani ~ Also related in the Tafsir ad-Durr Al-Manthur by Imam Jalaludin Al-Suyuti)

Quran and Modern Science ::THE EARTH DOES ROTATE EVEN THOUGH WE ARE NOT CONSCIOUS OF IT

88- When you look at the mountains, you think that they
are standing still. But they are moving like clouds. Such is
the artistry of God, who disposes of all things in perfect
order. He is indeed fully aware of what you do.
27-The Ant, 88

The mountains’ features seem to make them the most stationary components of the earth’s surface. The idea of the unattainability of
mountains led certain primitive mentalities to believe in polytheism
and fancy that the mountains were the abode of divinities.
The idea of mountain peaks being beyond man’s reach was an illusion, as was also their stationary aspect. The verse refers to this illusion and speaks of the motion of mountains like clouds. If the mountains that had a stationary aspect did move, it would follow that the
earth itself also moved. The verse thus dismisses the idea of a fixed
world entertained as a consequence of false perception, and informed
the public of the time of the movement of mountains, likening them
to clouds.
In the verse it is stated that men
believe that the mountains are stationary, but this is an illusion. It is
impossible to deduce from the mountains in motion that this is to
take place at the end of the world.

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE EARTH
DID ROTATE?

Sheikh
Abdul Aziz Bin Baz from Saudi Arabia. As late as the 1970s, he
claimed that the earth did not move and that anyone who asserted the
contrary was considered to have committed a blasphemy. The Saudi
Sheikh spoke as follows: “Anyone who thinks otherwise would be considered to have gone astray and be called on to repent. If he does repent, so
much the better, if not, he will be declared to have uttered a blasphemy
and be put to death, his estate being forfeited by the treasury of the
Muslim State. If the earth rotated as they asserted, lands, mountains,
trees, rivers and seas would turn into an absolute chaos. The Western
lands would have changed directions and shifted to the East. And the
Eastern lands would shift to the West changing the direction of the K›bla
(Mecca), henceforth impossible to determine. As none of these happenings
are observed, the assertion that the world is in motion is a false statement
for many reasons.”
We see that the opinions entertained about the stationary character of the earth were so firm that bigoted theologians disregarding the
revelations of the Quran could utter that anyone who thought that
the earth moved had to be subjected to capital punishment in the
twentieth century! The Quran is full of miraculous revelations, but
there is no end to the lies concocted in the name of religion. The people who took as their guide such concoctions and merely read the
Quran as a textbook without understanding its meaning have done
the greatest harm to religion. One must understand the reliability of
the Quran and avoid all superstitions.

GALILEO’S ORDEAL

Though historically it is a rare and anecdotal reaction and not shared
by many Muslim scholars, I mentioned the bigoted reaction of a
scholar who railed against the idea of a rotating earth. The case of
Galileo, however, is known all over the world. Galileo was an Italian
astronomer and physicist, one of the founders of modern science; he
believed that the universe was created by God. His empirical and observational scientific approach enabled him to be a pioneer in many
fields of science. His ordeal is well known. His postulation that the
earth rotated caused him to undergo terrible and painful experiences.
The Church had adopted the views of Aristotle and Ptolemy on the
universe and the world. This conception posited that the earth
remained fixed while the sun revolved around the moon. The Church
adopted this earth-centered view as its official credo. The Church
propounded all its views as the reflection of God’s will; to oppose
them was tantamount to taking a stand against God. We witness once
more that one of the main sources of commentaries trying to show
that religion and science are mutually exclusive were ignorant dogmatic bigots and the religious establishments under their domination.
So has been the case with Islam.
Once man ceases to mix his own ideas with God’s, the problem
will be solved. Otherwise, man will continue committing the sin of
mixing his views with God’s revelations. Galileo Galilei, like
Copernicus and Kepler, argued that the earth moved and the sun
stood in the center. According to their contention, the earth had no
central position. The Church was not as tolerant as it had been in the
case of Copernicus and Kepler. Galileo’s adoption of the Copernican
system was refuted by the Church, and under threat of torture from
the Inquisition, he was forced to publicly recant his heretical views.
This was not the end of the ordeal; he still had to face material and
spiritual tortures. He was forced to spend the last eight years of his
life under house arrest. The story of the Church and Galilei illustrates
best the quarrel between “religion” and science. But the fact remains
that the original religion as such was not to blame, but the so-called
representatives of fabricated religion were. The Quran warns us
against those people who will show up and present themselves as
spokesmen of God’s religion as well as against the ignominies perpetrated for material gains.

34- O believers, many rabbis and priests devour the substance of men and hinder them from the way of God.
9-Repentance, 34

We must beware of the class of the unenlightened and opportunistic who call themselves representatives of religion. True enlightenment is possible only by guiding ourselves by the precepts of the Quran. To adopt the Quran as our guide is the remedy against superstitions and the sine qua non of coming face to face with the truth.

MOUNTAINS IN MOTION
The verse we are studying in this chapter may have another sign, as
well. The terrestrial crust moves as if floating on the mantle, which is
denser. This was the reason why the continents, once a whole, were
severed from each other. The ideas posited by German meteorologist
and geologist Alfred Wegener in an article published in 1915 made
him the first serious proponent of the theory of the continental drift.
His theory was not espoused by most geologists of his time. It is,
however, accepted now as correct in principle. The continental drift is
the concept of continent formation by the fragmentation and movement of masses of land on the surface of the earth. The seas and lands
are in collision with each other like floating rafts on a lake, sometime
overlapping each other. Their speeds vary between 3cm and 15cm per
year. Thus, the mountains, that appear stationary to us, are in fact in
motion along with the earth, as well as with the continent of which
they form a part.
The world we inhabit rotates around its axis and revolves about the
sun in its rapid course in space along with the solar system; in addition, we must take into account the world’s movement in relation to
the moon. We shall include also the gravitational force of other planets. Unconscious of all these phenomena, we sleep tightly, enjoy our
meals with relish, and take pleasure in reading and doing sports. A car
is considered super when it does not let us feel we are riding in it. Our
world travels at an immense speed and follows extremely complex
courses unpiloted, without our being consciously affected by them.
The verse we analyzed at the beginning of this chapter is an evidence
of the incontestable perfection of God’s design.

Last Will and Testament of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib AlahisSalam

imam_ali_21_ramadan___by_designermr

I advise you to fear God, and not to pursue this vicious world even though it may try to entice you. Do not seek it though it may seek you and do not grieve over and long for things which this world refuses you. Always speak the truth, and work constantly for the eternal reward and blessings of God. Be an enemy of tyrants and oppressors and be a friend and support of those who are oppressed. To you, to my other children, to my relatives and to all who receive these words of mine, I advise to fear God and to be pious, to have fair and honest dealings with one another and improve mutual relations because I have heard your grandfather, the Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family) often say: “To remove mutual enmity, ill-feeling and hatred among people is better than all the prayers and fasting of many years.”

Fear God when the question of helpless orphans arises. You should not let them be full some time and hungry some other times. So long as you are there to guard and protect them, they should not be ruined or lost. Fear God with respect to your neighbors, for your prophet constantly enjoined us to be good to the neighbor, so much so that we thought that he may even decree that they had the right to inherit from us. Fear God in respect of the Holy Qur’an, lest others should excel and surpass you in following its tenets and in acting according to its orders. Fear God so far as prayers are concerned because prayers are the pillars of your religion.

Fear God in the matter of His House (Ka’bah). Let it not be deserted because if it is deserted, you (the Muslims) will be troubled with chastisement. Fear God in the matter of struggle in the path of God with your properties, lives, and tongues. Develop mutual liking, friendship and love and help one another. Take care that you do not spurn and treat one another badly and unsympathetically. Exhort people to do good and abstain them from evil, otherwise the vicious and the wicked will be your overlord and if you willingly allow such persons to be your rulers then your prayers will not be heard by God. O sons of ‘Abd al-Muṭṭalib: Let there be no retaliation for the act of my murder, except against the individual who committed the act. Do not seek vengeance against the community of Muslims under the slogan “The Commander of the Faithful has been murdered” nor inflict any harm on anyone, save my murderer. If I should die because of his strike against me, then strike him with a sword a single time, as he did to me. Do not mutilate or torture the man, for I have heard the Prophet of God (may the peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family) say: “Never mutilate or torture any living being, even if it be a vicious dog.”
