ACCOUNT OF THE DESPATCH OF EPISTLES BY THEAPOSTLE OF ALLAH, MAY ALLAH BLESS HIM, TO THECHIEFS, INVITING THEM TO JOIN THE FOLD OF ISLAM,AND WHAT THE APOSTLE OF ALLAH, MAY ALLAHBLESS HIM, WROTE TO THE PEOPLE OF ARABIA ANDOTHERS-8

He (Ibn Sad) said:Ali Ibn Muhammad al-Qurayshi informed us on the
authority of Abu Ma’shar, he on the authority of Yazid Ibn Ruman, [P.
31] Muhammad Ibn Kab and Yazid IbnIyád Ibn Ju’dabah al-Laythi,
they on the authority of al-Zuhri; others narrated on the authority of
others; they said:
The Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him, wrote to Siman Ibn 'Amr Ibn Qurayt IbnUbayd Ibn Abi Bakr Ibn Kilab, along with Abd Allah Ibn Awsajah a1-Urani; he patched it into his bucket and so they came to be
known as Banu al-Raqi(children of the patcher). Then Siman
embrached Islam and came to the Apostle of Allah, may Allah blest him,
and recited (the verse): Forgive me as you protected Ward; when I come
to you I am not a greater sinner than Ward
