Knowledge Of Imam Mohammed Baqir (as).

Knowledge Of Imam Mohammed Baqir (as).
Part 1,2,3.
“A dying person willed that a thousand dirhams from his property be donated to the Holy Ka’ba.
After the person died, the executor of the will took the amount and proceeded to Mecca but upon reaching there he was confused how to spend the same.
People brought him to Ibn Shayba who told him to hand over the money to him discharge his duty.
But he did not agree and went to Imam Baqir (a.s) to know the right solution.
Imam (a.s) told him, “The Holy Ka’ba is not needful of this money, rather you should find those Hajj pilgrims who do not have the means to return home, and this money should be given to them.”

2? Once Abu Khalid Kabuli asked Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s) about the meaning of “Light” in the verse:

Therefore believe in Allah and His Apostle and the Light, which We have revealed. (Surah Taghabun 64:8)

Imam (a.s) replied, “It denotes us, the Imams. By Allah, only we are the light of Allah that have descended from Him and only we are the light of Allah in the heavens and the earth as mentioned in the verse:

Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth. (Surah Nur 24:35)

Imam Baqir (a.s) further said: When the verse:

(Remember) the day when We will call every people with their Imam… (Surah Bani Israel 17:71)

was revealed, people asked the Messenger of Allah (SwT), “Are you not the Imam of all the people?”

The Prophet replied, “I am the Prophet for all the people till Qiyamat, but there would be Imams from my progeny, who would be appointed by Allah like I am. But the misguided people would consider them liars.
They would oppress them and their followers.
Only these people (Imams) are from me and only they would be with me in Paradise on the Day of Judgment.
And those who have oppressed them and their followers would remain away from me.”

3) A person named Abdul Ghaffar Nasrani once posed the following questions to Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s):

1. Who is a true Muslim..?
Imam Baqir (a.s) replied, “One from whose tongue the Muslims are safe.”

2.) Which is the best worship? Imam Baqir (a.s) Replied “Patience”

3. Who is a better believer..? Imam Baqir (a.s) Replied “One who has the best behavior.”

4.) Which is the best Jihad..? Imam Baqir (a.s) replied, “One in which the legs of the warrior’s horse are cut off and in which his blood is spilled.”

5.) Which is the best prayer..? Imam Baqir (a.s) replied  “That which has a prolonged ‘Qunut’1”

6. Which is the better Sadaqah.? Imam Baqir (a.s) replied, “Remaining away from prohibited things.”

7.) What do you say about visiting the rulers.?
Imam Baqir (a.s) Replied, “It is not good for you.”

8.) I intend to visit Ibrahim bin Walid, the ruler of Syria, in Damascus. Is there anything wrong in that..?

Imam Baqir (a.s) replied, “Paying a visit to rulers attracts one towards three things,
1)love of the world,
2) forgetfulness of death and
3)less contentment on divine will.”

He said, “Since I have to maintain a family, I aim to gain monetary benefits from there.” Imam Baqir (a.s) said, “I am not asking you to forsake the world, I am only asking you to abandon sins.”

Hazrat Suhayb ibn Sinan ibn Malik al-Rumi R.A

Suhayb ibn Sinan ibn Malik al-Rumi, may Allah be pleased with him, had red skin and ginger hair.

“Al-Rumi” means “the Roman,” but he was not actually from Rome.

His father was a chief appointed by the Persian emperor.

One day, the Roman army attacked the area where Suhayb ibn Sinan’s father was the chief.

The Romans conquered the land, took many people as slaves, and they captured this young boy and took him back with them to the Roman Empire.

He became a slave and was sold from one person to another.

But he always knew:

“I come from the Arabs. One day, somehow, I will return to my people.”

One day, he heard one of the leaders of the church saying:

“You know what? In Makkah, the time has come for a messenger to appear who will complete the message of Isa (alayhi salatu was salam).”

When this youngster heard that, he said:

“I am an Arab. I come from there.”

This made him even more eager to return.

Eventually, he ended up in Makkah al-Mukarramah in the ownership of Abdullah ibn Jud‘an, who later freed him.

The people used to call him “Roman” because he could not properly speak Arabic.

And when he eventually learned Arabic, he still had a very distinct foreign accent.

He started doing business in Makkah.

One day, he heard people talking about Muhammad ﷺ.

He became extremely excited because this was exactly what he had been waiting for.

So he asked:

“Where is Muhammad ﷺ?”

Someone told him:

“Be careful. Don’t ask loudly, otherwise Quraysh will harm you. As it is, you have no relatives here.”

But Suhayb said:

“Where is he?”

They replied:

“You will find him in the house of Al-Arqam ibn Abi al-Arqam.”

That night, he quietly tiptoed toward the house of Al-Arqam ibn Abi al-Arqam.

And when he arrived at the door, guess who he found there?

Ammar ibn Yasir (رضي الله عنه).

They recognized each other.

Suhayb asked:

“Ammar, what are you doing here?”

Ammar replied:

“What are YOU doing here?”

Suhayb said:

“I want to listen to this man.”

Ammar ibn Yasir said:

“Yes, me too.”

So both of them entered and sat in the company of Muhammad ﷺ for a few moments.

Very shortly after, they both declared their Shahadah.

After accepting Islam, Suhayb was attacked, harmed, abused, punished, and economically boycotted by Quraysh.

When the Muslims began migrating to Madinah, Quraysh surrounded Suhayb’s house and placed guards over him 24 hours a day.

So he thought of a plan.

He pretended that he was suffering from severe stomach problems.

He asked permission to go out repeatedly to relieve himself.

At first they followed him.

Then eventually they said:

“This man is genuinely sick.”

So they relaxed and eventually fell asleep.

As soon as they slept, Suhayb escaped and headed toward Madinah.

When Quraysh discovered this, they immediately mounted the fastest horses and chased after him.

Why?

Because Suhayb was now a wealthy man with gold, silver, and business wealth.

Eventually they caught up with him at a high place on a mountain path.

Suhayb turned to them and said:

“What can I do so that you let me go?”

They replied:

“When you came to Makkah you were poor. Now you want to leave with all your wealth?”

Suhayb said:

“I will tell you where all my wealth is hidden. You can take everything. Just let me go to Madinah.”

They agreed.

He told them where the wealth was hidden.

They recovered it all and allowed him to continue to Madinah.

When Suhayb arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, Muhammad ﷺ looked at him and said:

“O Suhayb, your transaction has indeed been profitable.”

Suhayb was shocked and asked:

“How do you know about the deal?”

Jibril (عليه السلام) had already informed Muhammad ﷺ about what happened.

Then Allah سبحانه وتعالى revealed verses regarding Suhayb ibn Sinan al-Rumi:

“And there are those who would dedicate their lives to Allah’s pleasure.”

He was among the companions who participated in all the battles alongside Muhammad ﷺ.

Later, when Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) was stabbed, one of the first decisions Umar made was regarding who would temporarily lead the Muslims.

He appointed Suhayb ibn Sinan ibn Malik

Suhayb became the interim Imam of the Muslims.

He led the prayers during the period between the stabbing of Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) and the appointment of Uthman ibn Affan (رضي الله عنه) as the new Khalifah.

Suhayb ibn Sinan al-Rumi (رضي الله عنه) later passed away in Madinah Munawwarah during the time of Ali ibn Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه).

And he was buried in Al-Baqi‘.

How the Three Locks Work:

1. Lock on Hearing: The first lock is placed on the ears, preventing the servant from hearing divine inspirations and guidance. When the ears are spiritually blocked, shaitan can manipulate and deceive, cutting off the flow of heavenly knowledge.

2. Lock on Sight: The second lock is on the eyes, veiling the vision of the heart. This prevents the servant from witnessing spiritual realities and keeps them heedless, unable to see the truth even if it is presented before them.

3. Veil on the Heart: The third lock is a veil over the heart, stopping the soul from feeling divine vibrations and inspirations. With the heart veiled, the soul is disconnected from the ocean of power and knowledge that Allah ﷻ has destined for it.

These three locks correspond to the three dots on Sheen (ش) and are the mechanism by which shaitan blocks the flow of Ilm al-Yaqeen (knowledge of certainty), Ain al-Yaqeen (vision of certainty), and Haq al-Yaqeen (truth of certainty). As long as these locks remain, the servant cannot reach the heavenly knowledges meant to dress their soul.

Unlocking the Seen: The path of Sufism, especially through muraqabah (spiritual contemplation) and connection to a true guide, is designed to break these locks. By opening the ears to divine guidance, purifying the vision through annihilation of the self, and unveiling the heart through sincere spiritual practices, the seeker can access the ocean of power and knowledge within the letter Seen. This is the process of transforming Sheen (ش) back to Seen (س), restoring the original light and allowing the soul to be dressed by the heavenly realities.

May Allah ﷻ grant you the strength to break these locks, open the ocean of knowledge within your soul, and dress you in the lights of certainty. May your heart, hearing, and vision be unveiled for the realities of Divine Presence.
