In the preceding chapter we have studied the conflicting situation between the scientists and Christendom and inspiratory role of the Qur’an towards the promotion of scientific learning. The Qur’an repeatedly invites our attention to acquire awareness about the developments around us through our perception. In this way the hidden secrets of the entire universe and the realities pertaining to man’s creation are comprehensively assimilated. The Muslim scientists and scholars, influenced by the Qur’ānic concepts on man’s life, explored new avenues of scientific development. This is also a fact that Islamic thought has played a vital role in the development of Western philosophies. Putting aside the illogical, irrational rather whimsical Darwinian theory of evolution here we scientifically probe into special creation of man, which is scientifically investigated compatible with the revealed truths.
Larmarck, Malthas, Mendle, Darwin, Wilson and others who have presented evolution as Lamarckism. Darwinism or Neo-Darwinism all have based their conclusions on certain similarities found between humans and certain animals. These similarities are of the following nature: 1. Biological similarities. 2. Anatomical similarities. 3.Biochemical similarities. 4. Genetic similarities.
These similarities, discovered after a great deal of scientific research had already been pointed out by the Qur’an 14 centunes ago in verse 38 of Surah 6 of the Holy Qur’ān.
And the animals on the earth and the two- winged birds which fly in the sky, they are
creations similar to you (O’Mankind). The word amthalukum (similar to you) indicates different kinds of similarities between animals, birds and humans. However, the Qur’an does not agree with the inference drawn from these similarities, nor do all the scientists agree on this. Also they could not prove their theory conclusively. They acknowledge the lack of continuity in their theory. This discontinuity is called “Missing links.” Due to many such missing links, there are several contending and contradicting interpretations of the theory of evolution and no single unified theory has been put forward.
We would see here that, whatever aspects of scientific research are in line with the Qur’anic concepts, it will smoothly reach its conclusion in a natural way. On On the other hand, any idea or research which contradicts the Qur’an will never get out of the cobweb of confusion and doubts.
According to Dr. Nūrbāqī, about a hundred years ago,
1. Qur’an (al-An’ām) 6:38.
Charles Darwin a clergyman, graduated from Christ’s College, Cambridge University and with no previous background in medicine or biology, claimed that man was an animal who had evolved from unicellular organisms and had descended from the apes. A lot of scientists jumped on his bandwagon, and soon the myth called evolution was going full speed. This view was taught for years in all educational institutions as if it were a fact of science.
According to one modem scientist, Duane Gish, evolution (i.e. the descent of man from an animal) is a philosophical notion without any scientific basis. In fact R.B Geldschmidt, a professor of biology and one of the most fervent proponents of evolutionism, is honest enough to admit that no unequivocal scientific evidence exists in at no favour of evolution, and that it is simply a way of thinking. The Oxford Dictionary states that for a theory to be scientific, it must embody observed facts within a framework of general laws.
The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) gives the reward for the service done to Ibrahim Khaleelullah (May peace be upon him)
Imam Zurqani (May Allah shower His mercy on him) relates a very interesting Hadith in his commentary on Mawahib-e-Ladunniya
Translation of Hadith: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be well pleased with him) that Hadhrat Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) said: Ask me before you miss me. Ask me about that science about which neither Jibreel knew anything nor Mikail (May peace be upon them). The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) taught me from those sciences which Allah Ta’ala taught Him on the night of Meraj. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: My Lord taught me various sciences. Hadhrat Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) told me this and said: I was a radiance in the body of Hadhrat Ibrahim (May peace be upon him) and was a manifestation of Noor in his back. When Nimrod was about to throw Hadhrat Ibrahim (May peace be upon him) in the fire, Jibreel (May peace be upon him) came to him and said: O beloved of Rahman, do you have any need? He said: I have no need from you o Jibreel (May peace be upon him). Jibreel (May peace be upon him) came for a second time. This time Mikail (May peace be upon him) was with him. Ibrahim (May peace be upon him) said: I have no need from you or from Mikail (May peace be upon him). Jibreel (May peace be upon him) came for a third time and said: Do you have any wish with your Lord Allah Ta’ala? Hadhrat Ibrahim (May peace be upon him) said: Brother Jibreel (May peace be upon him), the mark of a beloved is not disobey the wish of his beloved.
Allah Ta’ala made me talk, so I said: When I will come to this world and Allah Ta’ala will seat me on the station of Prophethood and will raise my status above all others, then I will give a reward to Jibreel (May peace be upon him) for the service rendered to my father Hadhrat Ibrahim (May peace be upon him). Then the night of Meraj came after Allah Ta’ala sent me into this world. Jibreel (May peace be upon him) came to my presence and remained with me until he reached a particular place and stopped there. I told Jibreel (May peace be upon him): Does a friend leave another in a place like this? Jibreel (May peace be upon him) said: If I go beyond this place, Allah’s radiance will incinerate me. Then the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: O Jibreel (May peace be upon him), do you have any wish which you would like to have conveyed to Allah Ta’ala? Jibreel (May peace be upon him) said: O Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)! Please supplicate to Allah Ta’ala on my behalf that I want to spread my wings on the Siraat for Your Ummah so that they can pass over it with ease.
Jibreel’s (May peace be upon him) seeking blessings from the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)
The way Jibreel (May peace be upon him) considers his coming to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), in the same way, he considers the Holy Prophet’s (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) sitting at Sidratul Muntaha as a means of blessings for him.
Mulla Muin Kaashfi Haravi (May Allah Ta’ala shower His mercy on him) has mentioned a Hadith in Maa’arij Un Nubuwwah:
Translation: Jibreel (May peace be upon him) said: O Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)! I have a request. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Tell me what it is. He said: It is my request that you offer 2 Raka’at of Salaat here, so that my dwelling gains the blessings of your feet. (Maa’arij Un Nubuwwah, Pg. No. 931)
anded to sek Jibreel (May peace be upon him) was commanded to seek the protection of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)
Nuzhatul Majalis has a Hadith:
Translation of Hadith: Allah Ta’ala commanded Jibreel (May peace be upon him): O Jibreel (May peace be upon him) take the Flag of guidance, the Burraq of benevolence, the robe of honor, the mantle of Prophethood and the turban of majesty along with a procession of 70000 angels to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).
Stand at his door and seek His protection. Tonight you have to hold the reins of His horse. O Mikail (May peace be upon him), you take the flag of acceptance and along with a procession 70000 angels and go to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). O Israfeel and ‘Izrail (Peace be upon them), you both also serve Our Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in the same way.
There is a Hadith in Khasaais Ul Kubra of Imam Suyuti, Mo’jam e Ausat and Majma ‘Uz
Zawaid of Imam Tabarani.
Ummul Momineen Hadhrat Aisha Siddiqua (May Allah be well pleased with her) narrates from the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam): Jibreel (May peace be upon him) said: I have combed the east and the west but I have not found anybody as excellent as the Holy Prophet Hadhrat Muhammad Mustafa (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). (M’ojam Kabeer Tabarani, Hadith No. 6468; Majma ‘Uz Zawaid, Vol. 8, Pg. No. 217; Khasaais Ul Kubra, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 318)
Research about the words “Fahamazanee Bi Qadamihee”
On the night of Meraj, Jibreel (May peace be upon him) descended from the heavens and right from coming to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and continuing through out the journey, he was the very personification of the respect of the Holy Prophet of (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). He held the reins of the mount of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). He did not let go of even a small article of the respect of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).
When he came to the the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), he came with soft steps and rubbed his cheeks on the heels of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). What is to be understood here is that some books of Seerah like Ibn Hisham, etc. have used the words Fahamazanee Bi Qadamihee. Some people have translated the above mentioned words as “Jibreel (May peace be upon him) kicked me to awaken me”. This translation is completely wrong and is against logic and is against what has been reported to us well. No Muslim can even think like this. This is against the respect and reverence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and is a lie against a respectful like Jibreel (May peace be upon him). That’s why linguistic research about these words is being produced here.
First thing to be understood here is that the Prophets have been given such spiritual power that when Jibreel (May peace be upon him) starts his descent from the Sidrah, they smell him right here on the earth and understand that Jibreel (May peace be upon him) is going to descend. Allama Shihabuddin Khafaji writes in Naseem Al Riyaz:
Translation: The summary of all this is that, the inward of the Prophets and their senses are angelic. That’s why they see the ends of the world, hear the creaking o the sky and when Jibreel (May peace be upon him) decides to descend from the sky, they smell him. (Naseem Al Riyaz, Vol. 3, Pg. No. 545)
In that book, it has been proved beyond doubt using the verses of the Holy Quran, the Hadith and the rulings and sayings of the Imams and the Sahabah that Jibreel (May peace be upon him) is the preferred servant of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). He has been appointed by Allah Ta’ala to serve the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). He does not move away even to the extent of a hair’s breadth from the respect of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). Is it even conceivable that to wake up the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), Jibreel (May peace be upon him)
committed such an indecency? Islam is a religion which teaches culture and refinement and in Islam waking up even a common Muslim like this is against culture and refinement.
Lot was a nephew of Abraham, born to his brother Haran in the city of Ur. Haran had died when Abraham quit Ur and Lot accompanied his uncle Abraham in his travels. When Abraham finally settled in Canaan, God appointed Lot as His messenger to the people inhabiting the northern valley of River Jordan in the region of Motaffakah. There were two prosperous cities in this region known as Sodom and Gomorrah.
Iv corrupt. The people living in this region were morally They openly practised homosexuality. They defied the teachings of Lot and ridiculed and tortured him. In fact the degree of defiance was so high that Lot and his family lived in constant threat of persecution.
The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah
It was the year when God sent instructions to Abraham for ritual circumcision. He received Angels who informed him of the doom that was in stock for the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham asked for the safety of his nephew Lot and his family. After assurances from God about the safety of his nephew and his family, the angels left for the territory of the ill- fated people.
The angels arrived at the door of Lot in the form of handsome lads. The town people rushed to grab them for their pleasure. Lot pleaded for their release but failed due to their superior numbers and determination. The angels delivered the instructions from God to Lot and told him to quit the region immediately and none of them should look back.
No sooner had the family of Lot climbed the hills. beyond the territory of Sodom and Gomorrah than a terrible earthquake struck the region. A fire of sulphur and huge boulders. flung from above and from the bowels of the earth, fully destroying the people and the two cities. The wife of Lot sympathised with the sinful people and disobeyed the
instructions of God. She turned back to look at the raging destruction down in the valley and was converted to a pillar of rock. Lot hurried out of the region with the rest of his family to the sanctuary promised by God.

The Muslims now rushed forward in a body and there was a melee. Seven of the Jews’ most distinguished warriors viz. Marhab, Antar, Rabi, Dzajij, Daud, Morra. and Yasir, having fallen by Ali’s sword, the Jews retreated into the citadel with the Muslims hotly in pursuit. In the heat of the battle, a Jew dealt a blow on Ali’s arm knocking his shield which fell to the ground and another Jew ran away with it. Ali being enraged, performed superhuman feats of prowess, he jumped over a trench, approached the iron gate of the fortress, wrenched it off its hinges. and used it as a buckler for the remainder of the battle.
Abu Rafe, one of those who stormed the fort with Ali, testified that, after the war, he examined the gate and tried with seven other persons to turn it over but the attempt failed. The citadel was captured and the victory
was decisive. The Jews lost ninety-three men, while on the Muslim side, only nineteen were killed throughout the campaign.
According to Suyuti in Tarikhul-Khulafa, Ali held the gate in one hand, making his companions stand on the flat gate, went on placing them across the ditch by a movement of his hand. Suyuti adds that later the gate could not be moved by eighty persons.
Ali’s services appreciated.
After capturing the citadel Ali came back victorious to his Camp, the Prophet, seeing him coming, came out of his tent with open arms to receive him. Warmly embracing Ali, the Prophet kissed his brow and declared that his services to the Divine cause were appreciated by the Almighty Judge as well as by himself and added.
1″Ali, had I not been afraid that the Muslims would start regarding you as Christians regard Christ, I would have said things about you which would have made the Muslims venerate you and to consider the dust of your feet as something worth venerating; but it will suffice to say that you are from me and I am from you; you will inherit me and I will inherit you; you are to me what Aaron was unto Moses; you will fight for my causes, you will be nearest to me on the day of judgment; you will be next to me on the fountain of Kanser; enmity against you is enmity against me; a war against you is a war against me; your friendship is my friendship; to be at peace with you is to be at peace with me; your flesh is my flesh; your blood is my blood; who will obey you will obey me; truth is on your tongue, in your

heart and in your mind. You have as much faith in God as I have. You are a door to me. As per the order of God, I give you these tidings that your friends will be rewarded in Heaven and your enemies are doomed for Hell”.
Ali shed tears of joy at this intelligence. The Apostle revived their faith by the example of Ali on whom he bestowed the surname of the “Lion of God”. Gibbon, D. & F. of Roman Empire Vol. V. p. 365.
Surrender of the Jews.
After the defeat, the fortress surrendered on condition that the inhabitants were free to leave the country after giving up their whole property to the conqueror, each one taking a camel load of food stuffs with him. Concealment of the valuables was to be deemed an infraction of the conditions, and the violator was liable to capital punishment. People preferring to live in the country might occupy and reside in the houses possessed by them and might also cultivate the land they occupied; but no immoveable property was to be owned by them, they being treated as tenants bound to cede half. of their products to the conqueror, who could put them to exile at his will and pleasure.
The Massacre of The Bani Khuzas.
By virtue of the Hudaibiya Treaty, the Bani Khuzaa had declared themselves in alliance with the Prophet. With all the tribes in and around Medina knowing the strength of the Muslims, the Holy Prophet might have hoped for a peaceful year to come, but it was not to be, because the Meccans had no intention of keeping to the terms of the treaty. As the first year of the treaty drew to a close, the Meccan Quraish violated it in a most ruthless manner. At their direct instigation the tribe of Bani Bakr invaded the Bani Khuzaa, pillaged their territory and massacred them. Those who escaped the massacre fled to Medina and sought the Prophet’s help and a redress of their grievances. The Holy Prophet came to the conclusion that the time to put an end to this rule of iniquity and oppression that prevailed at Mecca was long overdue. To the people of Bani Khuzaa the Prophet made a promise that he would take up their cause as his very own.
He ordered an army of ten thousand to get ready to take the field against the Meccans. It was at this stage. that Abu Sufyan, the Governor of Mecca realising the gravity of the danger, came to Medina to seek the Prophet’s forgiveness. The Holy Prophet knew Abu Sufyan too well to waver in his determination, having lost all faith in the Meccans.
