He was born in Tarim, Hadhramaut in the year 970 A.H, and was named Muhammad. He memorized the Holy Qur’an completely, while was still in his childhood. He was brought up and nurtured in the sight of his father Habeeb ‘Abdallah, who was a great Scholar and Master of his time. His father taught him all the inward and outward dimensions of Islamic Sciences, with the classical and traditional explanation of Sciences of Shari’ah and Spirituality (Tasawwuf). Later, he went to various other great Schoalrs of the nation to seek more perfection and clarity.

After completing his courses of study, he started preaching Islam, teaching several students and calling towards Allah with such a proficiency that his fame reached the horizons. His grandfather Habeeb Shaykh, the another great scholar, gnostic and saint of Allah who had made City of Ahmedabad, India as his residence a long ago, was keenly observing his grandson from faraway called Habeeb Muhammad into his presence. The young and dynamic 19 years old Habeeb Muhammad reached Ahmedabad in the year 989 A.H and met his grandfather.

Habeeb Muhammad, stood in the company of his grandfather for years seeking knowledge, spirituality, attending to his lessons in the crowd and loneliness. He studied hundreds of books, traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Sciences of Hadith, Tafsir, Fiqh and many other subjects, texts and commentaries in the presence of Habeeb Shaykh.

Through his dedication and sincerity, he attained the highest rank amongst the students and disciples of Habeeb Shaykh, who were in the services years before Habeeb Muhammad had arrived. It wasn’t any scheme but a well written destiny which had to be fulfilled through this great man, thus, He became one of the highest intellects of Knowledge and Wisdom and also reached to such a positions of Spiritual Wayfaring that none had tread those paths before. Private and generalized associations with his grandfather polished his being in various forms such that a pearl inside the shell has been found, making him completely identical to the words and practices of his Grandfather.

Witnessing all the ancestral skills and expertise in Habeeb Muhammad, his Grandfather i.e. Habeeb Shaykh selected him to be his Vicegerent and Heir, thereby transferring his pedigree, Clothing him with Khirqah (Cloak), inculcating and granting permissions in everything he had achieved from his Masters. After selecting and authorizing his Grandson, Habeeb Shaykh passed away from this mortal world in 990 A.H.

  • As Master and Guide:

After having sat on his Grandfather’s position, Habeeb Muhammad continued the services of teaching, guidance, calling to Allah and serving the creation. He used to feed hundreds of people and spend on those in need each day. He had helped a lot of people of India and Hadhramaut equally, from which each one of high and low had benefited. He always had maintained his relationships with all those people of Hadhramaut and India who had came and visited him even once in a lifetime, which he continued to do till his last breaths.

Many of the students and disciples had quenched their thirsts and reached their paths. His students range wasn’t bounded to a region, instead it was as vast as the world and his students traveled from east and west to learn from him and get their cups of spiritual ecstacy and purification. His students include:

From the different parts of India, huge crowds came into his presence including muslims and people of all other religions to take his blessings and have a glance of his pious face.

The Kings of his period had also accepted his spirituality and eminence and used to send the alms everyday to help in the daily expenses of Habeeb Muhammad that used to be spent on poor and needy.

Habeeb ‘Abdallah, father of Habeeb Muhammad praised his spoke highly of his son everytime, and was immensely pleased with him and used to thanks Allah for granting such an able child. His father too, granted all his possessions and permissions, and had him clothed with Khirqah and inculcated with whatever he had the secrets from his Masters; also his father announced Habeeb Muhammad as his vicegerent.
