AARON (HAROON)
Aaron (Haroon) was elder brother of Moses. He was the son of Imran. He was appointed by God to help his brother Moses in the arduous task of freeing and molding the unruly children of Israel into a nation. He was responsible for carrying out of the rituals of worship as assigned by Moses. His descendants still carry out these rituals in the temples of Bani Israel. He acted as the vice-regent of Moses and accompanied his brother through the desert journeys till he died atop Mount Toor.
Haroon is known as Aaron in Torah and is referred to in the Qur’an along with Moses.
