Are You Absorbing the Truth or Just Collecting Information??

■ Are You Absorbing the Truth or Just Collecting Information?

How many of us are actually living the Deen versus just debating it online? These days, it seems like everyone’s got an opinion on religion, but very few have the wisdom to live it.

You know what’s funny? The people who argue the most are usually the ones most disconnected from Allah ﷻ. They talk about deep concepts like soul vs. body, divine will vs. free will, but when it comes to praying on time or controlling their anger, they struggle. What’s the point of knowledge if it doesn’t change your heart?

The great Wali Allah Bayazid Bistami (ر) once said:

❝People take their knowledge from the dead (books and scholars who have passed), but we take our knowledge from the Ever-Living One (Allah ﷻ).❞

It’s a wake-up call. 📢 Are we just accumulating information, or are we actually absorbing it into our hearts?

The Sufis understood this well. They didn’t just study fiqh (law) and theology—they lived it, breathed it, became it. Their hearts were so in sync with Allah ﷻ that their very presence calmed storms within people.

Now, let’s get one thing straight—Shariah (Islamic law) is non-negotiable. No one gets to bypass it in the name of spirituality.

Some people think spirituality means you can just “follow your heart” and ignore the rules of Islam. Nope. True Sufis never did that. The scholars of Shariah are like the builders of a house, and the Sufis are like the ones who decorate and fill it with light. You need both.

The great scholars and Aulia Allah always followed Shariah to the letter. Why? Because Allah ﷻ doesn’t expect you to master philosophy, logic, or complex theology—He just expects you to obey His guidance and purify your heart and Nafs.

Some people love making things complicated. They love talking about deep intellectual matters, but when it comes to basic faith—they’re lost.

Will Allah ﷻ ask you in your grave about complex philosophy? ❌ No.

Will He ask about whether you followed His commandments? ✅ Yes.

So why waste time on things that don’t bring you closer to Him? Islam is simple. It’s Tawheed (Oneness of Allah ﷻ), following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and living with sincerity.

Imagine a person who spends years studying books but never actually experiences faith. They can quote scholars, but they don’t know how to cry in sujood. They debate about Allah ﷻ, but they don’t feel Allah’s presence.

What’s the point? 🤷‍♂️

The real Aulia Allah weren’t obsessed with big words and complex theories—they were obsessed with Allah ﷻ Himself. That’s why their words still shake hearts today.

At the end of the day, we all want a good ending (Khatimah bil Khair). That doesn’t come from just collecting knowledge—it comes from living it with sincerity.

So, let’s stop overcomplicating things and start deepening our connection with Allah ﷻ.
