His relation with Mamun-ul-Rashid

Dialogues between Hazrat Jawad and Mamun
It is said that, after his father-Hazrat Imam Raza’s death, at the age of twelve, Hazrat Imam Taqi was standing in a lane of Baghdad with other boys. Incidentally, Mamun-ul-Rashid happened to pass from there. He was going for hunting. All the boys gave him way except Hazrat Jawad. Mamun came near him, offered him greetings. Imam was very handsome. Mamun asked him, “O’ lad! Why did you not give me the way as other boys did?”
Hazrat Imam Taqi said, “O’ Amir-ul-Muslemin, the way was not so narrow that I should slip aside for your convenience. And I have not thecommitted any sin so that I should run away. I also know that you do not punish anyone without fault.” Mamun was very much impressed by the dialogues and then, asked him his name.
He said, “My name is Muhammad. “Whose son are you?” Mamun asked. He said, “I am Hazrat Imam Raza’s son.” Mamun was pleased to hear his father’s name and went on his way. He had many hunter-hawks. When he went to the outskirt of the city, he left one hawk behind a partridge. The hawk disappeared and remained so for some time. When it returned, it had a living fish in its beak. Mamun was wonder-struck to see. He took it in his hand and returned. He came to the very spot where Hazrat Imam Taqi had met him. All the boys gave way to Mamun except Hazrat Imam Taqi. Mamun-ul-Rashid went near him and said, “O Muhammad!” He said, “O leader of the Musalmans, I am present before you.” Mamun-ul-Rashid asked him, “Now tell me what is in my hand?”
He said, “You have a small fish in your hand, which is prevented from going to the hands of Caliphs and the kings. The descendants of Nabi are honoured with it.”
Mamun-ul-Rashid was astonished to hear this. He kept on gazing towards him for a long time and then said, “You are the son of Razak.” He then doubled the prize he was going to offer him.
Another description says that Amm Fazal, the daughter of caliph Mamunul-Rashid, wrote him a letter from Medina that Hazrat Jawad/Taqi was displeased with her and was attracted towards another wife. Mamun-ulRashid wrote in reply, “I married you with him not, with an intention to bring the permitted things in the paradigm of the forbidden area. Beware! Henceforth, do not write anything like this.”
