Eight Timeless Lessons from Imam Ali (A.S.) to Imam Hasan (A.S.)
Imam Ali (peace be upon him) once lovingly advised his son, Imam Hasan (peace be upon him), with words that still guide hearts today. He said: “My son, learn these four things from me, and four more will naturally follow. If you remember them, your actions will never harm you.”
The First Four Principles
The greatest wealth a person can have is wisdom.
The greatest poverty is ignorance and foolishness.
The worst traits that distance people are pride and self-importance.
True nobility is shown through good manners, politeness, and refinement.
The Next Four Warnings
Do not befriend a fool, for he may harm you while trying to help you.
Do not befriend a miser, for he will abandon you in your time of need.
Do not befriend a wicked person, for he will sell you and your friendship for the lowest price.
Do not befriend a liar, for like a mirage, he will make what is far seem near and what is near seem far.
These words are a gentle reminder that wisdom shapes character, and choosing the right companions protects the heart and the path of life.
