■ What Happens When Divine Light Enters Someone’s Being?
When divine light (Noor) enters someone’s being, the question arises whether that person ceases to belong to creation. The answer is simple: no, they remain a part of creation. A human being is a compound of two elements — the physical body and the soul. While the body may undergo changes, the soul remains human. The essence of a person does not change because their body transforms.
Even if the body becomes luminous or spiritual, the person does not transcend creation. The arrogance or humanity within still originates from the soul. The reality of a person lies in the soul, and it must be nurtured with worship, remembrance (Zikr), Salawat and spiritual guidance. Without this, the soul remains unawakened — blind, deaf, and disconnected from its divine purpose.
At death, the physical body returns to the earth, becoming part of the soil. It holds no value in the afterlife. The soul, however, is eternal and will be questioned about its deeds and awareness of Allah ﷻ. If the soul was not engaged in the remembrance of Allah ﷻ, it will face difficulty in the hereafter.
The reality is that many people focus only on outward actions, such as prayers and rituals, while neglecting the soul. They may perform these acts with their bodies, but if the heart is not present, such actions lack true spiritual benefit.
As Sultan Bahu ق said, even if someone receives the remembrance of the heart (Zikr-e-Qalb) moments before death, they can attain salvation. The Quran emphasizes:
❝On that day, neither wealth nor children will benefit, except one who comes to Allah with a sound heart (Qalb-e-Saleem).❞
(26:88-89)
The transformation of the soul requires divine favor and the guidance of a Murshid (spiritual guide). It is through their blessings and efforts that a person attains spiritual awakening. Without this favor, even the most outwardly pious acts may not suffice.
If Prophets require divine help, how can ordinary people succeed without it? Allah ﷻ grants His grace through the means of spiritual guides, who act as intermediaries in the journey of self-purification.
True spirituality begins and ends with divine grace. A person’s success in this journey is not due to their own capability but due to the blessings and mercy of Allah ﷻ, often received through the Murshid’s guidance. Recognizing and following this path leads to eternal success.
Without divine grace, there is no life, and with it, even the most distant soul can find its way to Allah ﷻ.
