■ The Knowledge of Modesty (Hayaa) or Self-Purification

The responsibility of nurturing modesty (hayaa) has been entrusted to the people of Allah ﷻ. It is narrated from Abdullah bin Masood (رضي الله عنه) that one day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the companions: “Be shy of Allah ﷻ as one should be shy of Him.” The companions replied, “O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we praise Allah and are shy of Him.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “This is not the true modesty. The person who truly feels shy of Allah should protect his mind, his eyes, his ears, his tongue, his stomach, and his private parts from all unlawful things. He should keep in mind the weakness of his body before death and in the Hereafter. One who desires the Hereafter must leave the adornments of this world. When someone has passed through all these stages, then they have truly fulfilled the right of being shy before Allah.”

Shari’ah:

The people of Allah (Sufis) and the Gnostics (Aarifeen) have emphasized in their teachings and blessed writings that the rank of Ihsan (perfection of faith) is the most important objective in Islam. This is the very essence of all acts of worship. All acts of worship aim to create this state of Ihsan. If the worship does not cultivate this state, then there must be some deficiency in its fulfillment. The purpose of this Hadith is also to train the sense of Ihsan.

When the companions (Sahabah) were asked, they gave the general response to Hayaa (modesty), but the Prophet ﷺ explained that the intended meaning of Hayaa here was not just the common understanding. Rather, it refers to a state of constant awareness, where the person feels such a profound modesty before Allah that every part of their body becomes instinctively obedient to Him, trembling at the thought of disobedience. The heart and mind cannot even bear to think against the Shari’ah. The ears cannot bear to hear anything unlawful, the eyes cannot look at anything impermissible, and the tongue cannot utter anything that opposes the commands of Allah. The person’s focus on the Hereafter becomes so intense that the fleeting pleasures of this world seem like mere distractions. The visions of death and the afterlife remain ever-present in their heart, and they no longer feel attached to worldly possessions.

When the impact of this Ihsan becomes so powerful and all-encompassing, one truly begins to feel the appropriate level of modesty before Allah. This is evident in avoiding sins. However, if a person is still engrossed in worldly comforts, fails to hold their senses accountable, and becomes distracted by the transient nature of this world, it indicates that the quality of modesty is not yet firmly established. They have not yet fully fulfilled the right of being shy before Allah.

It should be remembered that even if a fortunate individual is granted this great blessing of Ihsan, they should never fall into the illusion that their imperfect efforts have somehow fulfilled the rights of the Almighty. Instead, they should recognize that it is the grace of Allah that He overlooks the shortcomings of a humble servant’s efforts.

“The life given was His, the truth is that the right was never fulfilled.”

इमाम मोहम्मद बाक़िर (अ.स.) की शहादत

आप अगरचे अपने इल्मी फ़ैज़ व बरकात की वजह से इस्लाम को बराबर फ़रोग़ दे रहे थे लेकिन इसके बावजूद हश्शाम बिन अब्दुल मलिक ने आपको ज़हर के ज़रिए से शहीद करा दिया और आप बतारीख़ 7 ज़िल्हिज्जा 114 हिजरी यौमे दोशम्बा मदीना मुनव्वरा में इन्तिक़ाल फ़रमा गए। इस वक़्त आपकी उम्र 57 साल की थी आप जन्नतुल बक़ीह में दफ़्न हुए।(कशफ़ुल ग़म्मा पृष्ठ 93 जिलाउल उयून पृष्ठ 264 जनात अल ख़लूद पृष्ठ 26, दमए साकेबा पृष्ठ 449, अनवारूल हुसैनिया पृष्ठ 48, शवाहेदुन नबूअत पृष्ठ 181 रौज़तुल शोहदा पृष्ठ 434 )

अल्लामा शिबलंजी और अल्लामा इब्ने हजर मक्की फ़रमाते हैं , ‘‘ मात मसमूमन काबहू ’’ आप अपने पदरे बुज़ुर्गवार इमाम ज़ैनुल आबेदीन (अ.स.) ही की तरह ज़हर से शहीद कर दिए गए।(नुरूल अबसार पृष्ठ 31 व सवाक़े मोहर्रेक़ा पृष्ठ 120 ) आपकी शहादत हश्शाम के हुक्म से इब्राहीम बिन वालिये मदीना की ज़हर ख़ूरानी के ज़रिए वाक़े हुई है। एक रवायत में है कि ख़लीफ़ा ए वक़्त हश्शाम बिन अब्दुल मलिक की मुरसला ज़हर आलूद ज़ीन के ज़रिए से वाक़े हुई थी।(जनात अल खुलूद व दमए साकेबा जिल्द 2 पृष्ठ 478 )

शहादत से क़ब्ल आपने हज़रत इमाम जाफ़रे सादिक़ (अ.स.) से बहुत सी चीज़ों के मुताअल्लिक़ वसीअत फ़रमाई और कहा कि बेटा मेरे कानों में मेरे वालिदे माजिद की आवाज़ आ रही है। वह मुझे जल्द बुला रहे हैं।(नुरूल अबसार पृष्ठ 131 )

आपने ग़ुस्लो कफ़न के मुताअल्लिक़ ख़ास तौर पर हिदायत की क्यों कि इमाम राजिज़ इमाम नशवेद , इमाम को इमाम ही ग़ुस्ल दे सकता है।(शवाहेदुन नबूवत पृष्ठ 181 ) अल्लामा मजलिसी फ़रमाते हैं कि आपने अपनी वसीअतों में यह भी कहा कि 800 दिरहम मेरी अज़ादारी और मेरे मातम पर सर्फ़ करना और ऐसा इन्तेज़ाम करना कि दस साल तक मिना मेंब ज़मानए हज मेरी मज़लूमियत का मातम किया जाए।(जिलाउल उयून पृष्ठ 264 ) उलमा का बयान है कि वसीयतों में यह भी था कि मेरे बन्दे कफ़न क़ब्र में खोल देना और मेरी क़ब्र चार उंगल से ज़्यादा ऊँची न करना।(जनात अल ख़ुलूद पृष्ठ 27 )

अज़वाज व औलाद

आपकी चार बीबीयाँ थीं और उन्हीं से औलाद हुई। उम्मे फ़रवा , उम्मे हकीम , लैला और एक बीबी उम्मे फ़रवा क़ासिम बिन मोहम्मद बिन अबी बक्र जिन से हज़रत इमाम जाफ़रे सादिक़ (अ.स.) और अब्दुल्लाह अफ़तह पैदा हुए और उम्मे बिन्ते असद बिन मोग़ैरा शक़फ़ी से इब्राहीम व अब्दुल्लाह और लैला से अली और ज़ैनब पैदा हुये और चौथी बीबी से उम्मे सलमा मोता वल्लिद हुइ।(इरशाद मुफ़ीद पृष्ठ 294 मनाक़िब जिल्द 5 पृष्ठ 19 व नुरूल अबसार सफ़़ा 131 )

अल्लामा मोहम्मद बाक़िर बहभानी , अल्लामा मोहम्मद रज़ा आले काशेफ़ुल ग़ता और अल्लामा हुसैन वाएज़ काशफ़ी लिखते हैं कि हज़रत मोहम्मद बाक़िर (अ.स.) की नस्ल सिर्फ़ इमाम जाफ़र सादिक़ (अ.स.) से बढ़ी है उनके अलावा किसी की औलादें ज़िन्दा और बाक़ी नहीं रहीं।(दमए साकेबा जिल्द 2 पृष्ठ 479 अनवारूल हुसैनिया जिल्द 2 पृष्ठ 48, रौज़तुल शोहदा पृष्ठ 434 प्रकाशित लखनऊ 1284 ई 0 )
