The Deputation of Bajilah

He (Ibn Sa’d) said: Muhammad Ibn Umar al-Aslami informed us, he said: 'Abd al-Hamid Ibn Ja'far related to me on the authority of his father, he said: Jarir IbnAbd Allah al-Bajali came to al-Madinah in the tenth year with
one hundred and fifty of his people. The Apostle of Allah had said before
their arrival that a person of great blessings would be seen coming that
high way on whose face will be signs of Kingship. Jarir was seen coming
on his beast and with him were his people. They embraced Islam and
offered bay’ah (to the Prophet). Jarir said: The Apostle of Allah, may
Allah bless him, stretched (his hand) and accepted my bay’ah; he
(Prophet) said: Testify there is no god but Allah, and that I am His
Apostle, offer prayers, pay Zakah, observe fasting during Ramadan, be
sincere to Muslims and obey your walis even they be Abyssinian slaves.
He (Jarir) said: Yes, I shall. Then he (Prophet) accepted his bay’ah.
Qays Ibn ‘Azrah al-Ahmasi arrived with two hundred and fifty
persons of the (tribe of) Ahmas. The Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless
him, asked them, who were they? They said: strong men of Allah, and
this appellation was applied to them in the days of Jahiliyah. The Apostle
of Allah said to them: Today you are for Allah. The Apostle of Allah said
to Bilal: Make payment to the horsemen of Bajilah and begin with those
of al-Ahmas. He did accordingly. Jarir Ibn ‘Abd Allah stayed with
Farwah Ibn ‘Amr al-Bayadi. The Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him,
used to inquire from him about what was behind him. He would reply: 0
Apostle of Allah, Allah has manifested Islam and adhan (call for prayers)
in their mosques and courtyards. The men of the tribes demolished the
idols which they adored. He (Prophet) said: What happened to Dhu’lKhalasah? He replied: It is yet in the same position but Allah will deliver
us of it, if He will. The Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him, sent him to
break Dhu’l-Khalasash and prepared a flag for him. He said: I do not
remain firm on the horse. The Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him,
rubbed his chest and prayed for him: O Allah! make him a guide and a
guided one. He set out with his people who were about two hundred men.
The (period of his) absence was not long he returned soon. The Apostle of
Allah, may Allah bless him, said: Have you broken it? He said: Yes! by
Him, Who raised you with truth; and I seized what was on it and I burnt
it in fire. I have left it in a condition which will displease any one who
likes it. None offered any obstruction to us before it. He (Ibn Sa’d) said:
Thereupon the Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him, blessed the horses
and men of Ahmas.

The picture of the lion turned into a real lion

Once an expert Indian Illusionist came to Mutawakkil, who was very good at his skill. Mutawakkil told the Indian, “If you defeat Hazrat Muhammadbin-Ali, I will give you one thousand Dirhams.” The Indian said, “Keep some thin bread on the dining mat and let me sit beside him.” The caliph made the arrangements. Hazrat Hadi extended his hand to take the bread. The Indian did something, and the bread moved away from his reach. He repeated the act thrice. The people present there, laughed at Hazrat Hadi. There was a carpet which contained a lion’s picture. Hazrat Hadi looked at the picture, and it came to life. He said, “Catch it.” Then it attacked the Indian and dashed him to the ground. Then, the real lion, again, turned into the picture.

Many times, Mutawakkil requested him to save the Indian, but he did not listen to him and said, “On the oath of Allah, the Almighty, now onwards, you will never see this Indian again.” And none could see him.

Death punishment for Jesting

Once it so happened that there was an invitation for dining at a valima ceremony, where the caliphs’ children also were present. People came there to honour them. Among them, there was a young man who was very far away from the etiquettes. Without any reason, he was laughing. Hazrat Hadi turned his holy face towards him and said, “Why do you waste your time in laughter? You are away from the worship of Allah, the Almighty. Remember, within three days, you are going to sleep in the grave.”

When the young man heard this, he stopped his senseless talks. Then the dinner was served. The man ate and falls sick. On the third day, he died.

Mother’s falling down from the house and then to die Once, there was a marriage party at someone’s house. There was a rude and mannerless boy in the group. He was not giving respect to Hazrat Hadi. Hazrat Hadi said, “He would not be able to eat anything from the items served. From his clothes, it can be known that the life will be quite bitter for him.” When the dinner was served, he extended his hand to eat. At that time, his slave came running and weeping. He said, “Your mother has fallen down from the house, and she has died. Please make haste and let us go there so that we can treat her for the post-mortial procedure.” His extended hand was taken back, could not eat anything and had to go to his mother.

सत्य साधकों का शिष्य होना

हुजूर प्रकाश पुंज वारिस पाक की ख़िलाफत और उत्तराधिकारी होने की ख़बर

साधारण जनता को हो चुकी थी। अतः एक बहुत बड़ी भीड़ ने बैय्यत किया। मौलवी रौनक़ अली साहब पैंतेपुरी का कहना है कि मेरे खानदान के लोग हज़रत शाह अब्दुर्रजाक बाँसवी की भविष्यवाणी अनुसार हुजूर वारिस पाक से मुरीद हुए । मिर्ज़ा मुहम्मद इब्राहीम बेग शैदा के पिता हुजूर जब चौदह वर्ष के थे तभी आपके शिष्य हुए थे। मौलवी फरखन्द अली निवासी कस्बा चौरासी, जिलालखनऊ के दादा शेख़ उम्मीद अली चौदह वर्ष की उम्र में शिष्य हुए थे। चौधरी (१२)

ख़ुदा बख्श साहब वारसी निवासी इटावा (आगरा) कहते हैं कि मेरे पिता जब शिष्य हुए तो हुजूर की आयु चौदह वर्ष थी।

हाफ़िज गुलाब शाह वारसी अकबराबादी जो अपने काल के संत और सूफ़ी प्रसिद्ध थे, अपनी शिष्यता की घटना स्वयं बतलाते थे जो निम्नलिखित है :

जब मैं मकतब में पढ़ता था उस समय मेरा एक सहपाठी किसी बुजुर्ग का शिष्य हो आया। उसने मुझसे भी अनुरोध किया कि तुम भी शिष्य हो जाओ। किन्तु मेरे मन में रह रहकर ये भावना उठती थी कि क्या मुरीद होना अनिवार्य है ? मुरीद होना चाहिये या नहीं होना चाहिये। उसी रात को मैंने एक सफेद दाढ़ी वाले बुजुर्ग को यह कहते देखा कि मियां साहबजादे • यदि तुम्हारी इच्छा बैय्यत की है तो पूरब से एक बुजुर्ग आते हैं उनसे हो लेना। स्वप्न के पश्चात् मेरी बेचैनी बढ़ गयी और तीन वर्ष प्रतीक्षा में व्यतीत हो गये। जब-जब मेरा मन विह्वल हो उठता था वही सूरत सपने में तसल्ली दे जाती थी। तीन वर्ष बाद एक दिन वही सूरत स्वप्न में आयी और कहा कि उठो जाओ और ख़ोज लो वह बुजुर्ग पूरब से आकर एक सराय में ठहरे हुए हैं। रात के दो बजे थे हड़बड़ा कर उठा हाथ मुंह धोया और एक ओर जिधर मन ने स्वीकार किया चल पड़े। पहरेदारों ने रोकना चाहा मगर मैंने किसी की न सुनी। अपने हृदय के पथ-प्रदर्शन पर चलता हुआ मुहल्ला हींग की मण्डी के एक सराय के दरवाजे पर पहुंचा। पूरब से आने वाले बुजुर्ग के सम्बन्ध में द्वारपाल पूछा तो उसने द्वार खोल दिया। भीतर जाकर मैंने कमरों को झांकना आरम्भ किया। अंधेरे के कारण कुछ दिखाई नहीं पड़ रहा था तभी आपने आवाज़ दी ‘हाफिज़ गुलाब तुम आ गये।’ व्याकुलता से दौड़ते हुए पैरों पर गिर पड़ा। देखा आप मुस्कुरा रहे थे। मैंने घर चलने का आग्रह किया। आपने स्वीकृति दी । मेरी उम्र १९ वर्ष और हुजूर वारिस पाक की उम्र लगभग १३ वर्ष चार माह थी। सारांश ये कि हुजूर की १३, १४ वर्ष की आयु में अध्यात्म और आंतरिक ज्ञान प्रत्यक्ष रुप में परिलक्षित हो रहे थे। अनगिनत लोगों ने आपका शिष्य होकर लाभ उठाया। से –

हाफ़िज़ गुलाब शाह कहते हैं कि आपको पतंग उड़ाने का शौक था। आपने इसके लिए एक नया ढंग निकाला। रात में पतंग और डोर मंगवाते थे। लगभग आधा सेर डोर छोड़ देते थे। पतंग तीव्र गति से उड़ती चली जाती थी। उसकी उड़ान इतनी तेज़ होती थी कि डोर सम्हालना कठिन होता था।

मुंशी अब्दुल ग़नी खाँ वारसी रईसपुर लिखते हैं कि मेरी उम्र १६ वर्ष थी। मैंने एक व्यक्ति से सुना कि देवा शरीफ, जिला- बाराबंकी के एक राजकुमार हैं जिनके माता-पिता की मृत्यु हो चुकी है। घर में ईश्वर का दिया हुआ सम्पूर्ण धन-सम्पत्ति, माल-असबाब सब कुछ है किन्तु वह सबको त्याग कर फ़कीर हो गये हैं। आयु लगभग १३ वर्ष है। हज का शौक है। नाम पूछने पर हुजूर प्रकाश पुंज का पुनीत नाम बताया। मेरी आंखों से आंसू बहने लगे। मन में हुजूर का ख्याल करता था।

मुंशी अब्दुल ग़नी खाँ वारसी की शिष्यता हुजूर की युवावस्था में हुई उस समय आप छूरी और कटार मंगवाते और हाथ में लेकर अपनी अंगुलियों से उसकी धार का निरीक्षण करते। उसके लहू (खून) की बड़ाई और बखान करते थे।

रात का पहरा

हुजूर सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि वसल्लम एक ग़ज़वा से तशरीफ ला रहे थे रात को एक जगह क्याम फरमाया । इरशाद फरमाया कि आज रात को हिफाज़त और चौकीदारी कौन करेगा? एक मुहाजिर और एक अंसारी हज़रत अम्मार बिन यासिर और हज़रत उबादा बिन बशीर रज़ियल्लाहु तआला अन्हुम ने अर्ज़ किया कि हम दोनों करेंगे। हुजूर सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि वसल्लम ने एक पहाड़ी जहाँ से दुशमन के आने का रास्ता हो सकता था। बता दिया इस पर दोनों क्याम करो। दोनों हज़रात वहां तशरीफ ले गये। वहां जाकर अंसारी ने मुहाजिर से कहा कि रात को दो हिस्सों में तक़सीम करके एक हिस्सा में आप सो रहें मैं जागता हूं। दूसरे हिस्से में आप जागें और मैं सोता रहूं कि दोनों के तमाम रात जागने में यह भी शक है, किसी वक़्त नींद का ग़ल्बा हो जाये। दोनों की आंख लग जाये और कोई ख़तरा जागने वाले को महसूस हो जाये तो वह साथी को जगा ले।

रात का आधा हिस्सा अंसारी के जागने का क़रार पाया और मुहाजिर सो गये। अंसारी ने नमाज़ की नीयत बांध ली। दुशमन की जानिब से एक शख़्स आया और दूर से खड़े हुए शख़्स को देखकर तीर मारा। जब कोई हरकत न हुई तो दूसरा फिर तीसरा तीर मारा। हर तीर उनके बदन में घुसता रहा और यह हाथ से उसको बदन से निकालकर फेंकते रहे। उसके बाद इत्मीनान से रुकू किया सज्दा किया फिर नमाज़ पढ़ी । नमाज़ पूरी करके अपने साथी को जगाया। दुशमन एक की जगह दो को देखकर भाग गया कि ना मालूम कितने हों और जब साथी ने उठकर यह आलम देखा तो मुहाजिर ने फ्रमायाः सुब्हानल्लाह तुमने मुझे शुरू में ही क्यों न जगाया? अंसारी ने कहा कि मैंने सूरः कहक़ शुरू कर रखी थी। मेरा दिल न चाहा कि इसको ख़त्म करने से पहले रुकू करूं । अब भी मुझको इस बात का अंदेशा हुआ कि ऐसा न हो कि मैं बार बार तीर लगने से मर जाऊं और हुजूर सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि वसल्लम ने जो हिफाज़त की ख़िदमत सुपुर्द कर रखी है, वह फ़ौत हो जाये | अगर मुझे यह अंदेशा न होता तो मर जाता मगर सूरः ख़त्म करने से पहले रुकू न करता । ( बैहक़ी व हिकायतुस-सहाबा, सफा ५३)
