How Can We Find Inner Light When Our Hearts Are Quiet?

■ How Can We Find Inner Light When Our Hearts Are Quiet?

In the journey of the spirituality, the most important step is to wake up the Lataif, which are the hidden spiritual centers—the soft energy points—inside our bodies. When these centers wake up, the Zikr-e-Qalb, or the constant remembrance of Allah within the heart, begins to flow like a river i.e Allah Hoo Allah Hoo non-stop. If a person cannot wake up these centers on their own, and if their heart does not yet hum with this silent prayer, they mostly turn to the Aulia Allah, the friends of Allah. They visit their resting places to seek Faiz, which is the spiritual grace or blessing that flows from a pure soul to a thirsty one.

People today search for this grace everywhere because they find it hard to wake up their own spiritual centers of Lataif. They look for blessings because they cannot yet hear the Allah Hoo in their own hearts. Waking up the Lataif and starting the Zikr-e-Qalb is actually a much higher state and Maqam than just receiving a blessing from outside. These friends of Allah have so much grace to give only because their own spiritual centers of Lataif are wide awake and their hearts are constantly reciting the name of Allah i.e Allah Hoo. When our own hearts are quiet, we go to those whose hearts are loud with Noor of Allah Hoo. This connection between a quiet heart and a shining soul is what we truly call Faiz.

To move forward, seek the company of those whose hearts and Lataif are already awake. When you sit near a large fire, you eventually catch a spark yourself. Even if your own wood is damp and will not light, the heat of Lataif from a great flame will dry it until you, too, can carry the fire of Lataif remembrance. This is the simplest way to turn a dark room into a place of light.
