A jew fell unconscious.

Sayyidah ʿĀʾisha al-Ṣiddīqah reported: There was a Yahūdī who had settled in Makkah. On the night the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was born, he said:

“O people of Quraysh! Has a child been born among you tonight?”

They replied: “We do not know.”

He said: “Look into it, for this very night the Prophet of this nation has been born. Between his shoulders there is a mark (the Seal of Prophethood).”

So they went and asked, and it was said to them: “A son has been born to ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib.”

The Yahūdī then went with them to his mother, and she brought the child out to them. When the Yahūdī saw the mark, he fell unconscious and exclaimed:

“Prophethood has departed from the Children of Isrāʾīl! O people of Quraysh, by Allāh, 𝗵𝗲 (‎ﷺ) 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁.”

Narrated by Yaʿqūb ibn Sufyān with a Ḥasan (good) isnād as mentioned in Fatḥ al-Bārī.

It was also narrated by al-Ḥākim in al-Mustadrak (2/601–602), and by al-Bayhaqī in Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah (1/108–109).

What is Laylat al-Mabīt — the Night of Sleeping?

What is Laylat al-Mabīt — the Night of Sleeping? What happened on the 1st of Rabi al-Awwal?

On that night, Quraysh surrounded the house of the Prophet (SAWW), swords in hand, ready to strike. Allah commanded His Messenger to leave Makkah and begin the Hijrah — but someone needed to stay behind, to sleep in his bed and face death.

It was Imam Ali (AS), only in his early twenties, who stepped forward with unwavering faith. Without hesitation, he laid down in the Prophet’s bed, risking his life so the mission of Islam could survive.

Allah immortalized this sacrifice in the Qur’an:
“And there are those who would dedicate their lives to Allah’s pleasure. And Allah is Ever Gracious to ˹His˺ servants.” (2:207)

This verse, unanimously narrated in Sunni & Shia tafsīr, was revealed about Imam Ali (AS) on that night. His act of devotion is remembered as one of the greatest examples of courage and love for Allah and His Messenger (SAWW).

Laylat al-Mabīt is not just history — it is a reminder that true faith means sacrifice, loyalty, and selflessness
