FATIMA ZAHRA (S.A) AS AN EXAMPLE FOR ALL WOMEN

FATIMA ZAHRA (S.A) AS AN EXAMPLE FOR ALL WOMEN
For man, the Prophet, Mohammad (Saww), was a perfect example to be followed in all matters of this life.
Allah (s.w.t) calls him in the Qur’an “Uswatun Hasana” (CH 33 V 21) or a perfect example.
For the Muslim women Fatima Zahra (s.a) was the perfect example; for says the Prophet (saww), ‘The best of young man is Ali Ibn Abu Talib (a.s) and the best of your women is Fatima Bint Muhammad.”

Prophet (Saww) addressing Fatima (s.a) as “The leader of the Women of the World, this Ummah and the believing women.”

excellent examples for Muslim women to follow and thereby lead a pure life.

FATIMA (S.) AS A DAUGHTER
Of all the children of the Prophet born from Lady Khadija (a.s), she was the only child to survive.
At the time of her mother’s death she was only five years.

But she was a great help to her father She comforted him when the whole world was against him.
She helped him clean himself for the dirt the enemies of Islam had thrown on him When these enemies hurt him and blood was flowing from his wounds, she would dress these wounds.

The care and comfort that this little girl of not even nine gave to her father made him call her “Umm Abiha” or the “Mother of your Father.”

Normally, once a girl is married, she thinks very little of her parents.
But this was not so with Fatima (s.a).Whereas she was the best mother to her children, and the best wife to her husband, she remained a very devoted daughter to her father.

The Prophet (Saww)also married other women and had another child, Ibrahim from Maria Kibtia she was a lady from Africa. He was a good husband to them and a good father to Ibrahim But his love for his daughter Fatima (s.a) remained as before.

When the battle of Ohad took place, Fatima (s.a) was already a married woman. But when she heard that her father was wounded, she hurried to the battle field She noticed that the Prophet’s forehead had been badly cut.

his tooth broken and his face covered with blood. She cleaned his face and dressed the wounds with ash obtained by burning a piece of rope. As for the Prophet (saww), he visited her everyday.

He loved her to call him “Father”. When the verses of Qur’an saying “Do not call the Prophet (saww) like you call each other”, was revealed, she started calling him “Messenger of Allah”.

The Prophet (Saww) then said, “Fatima (s.a), this verse is not for you and your family, for you are from me and I am from you Call me Father; it surely is better for my heart and more pleasant to Allah.”

FATIMA ZAHRA (S.A) AS A HOUSEWIFE
She was an excellent wife to Imam Ali (a.s) and he Ali (a.s) as an excellent husband to her.
Imam Ali  (a.s) himself is reported to have said, “By Allah (s.w.t) ‘I never made Fatima (s.a) angry or forced her to do something she did not like till to the day she died. Nor did she ever make me angry or disobeyed me. In fact, when I looked at her, worries and sadness would get out of me.”

Fatima Zahra (s.a) had taken upon herself to do all the work inside the house whereas Imam Ali (a.s) was doing all outside the house work such as working to earn the bread for his family. She worked very hard. She carried water in waterskin so often that the weight left marks on her body.

To make bread, she ground barley with her handmill so much that her hands were sore and often bled She swept her house and made cooking fire herself till her clothes became dark. When she was given a maid, called Fizza (s.a), to help her, she used her services only on every alternate day.

Imam Ali (a.s) would, from time to time, help her with doing the housework.
Once, the Prophet (saww) visited her daughter Fatima (s.a) He saw her and Imam Ali (a.s) working at the grinding stone.

The Prophet (Saww) asked, “Whom among you should I relieve from this work..?” Imam Ali (a.s) suggested that Fatima (s.a) he relieved as she was already tired She therefore left her share of work to the Prophet (saww) who joined Imam Ali (a.s) to complete the job of rinding barley.

Sometimes the Prophet’s beloved companions, too, would offer their services to her. It is reported that one day Bilal (r.a), the Muazzin of the Prophet (saww), went to the Mosque late.
The Prophet (Saww) asked him why he was late.

Bilal (r.a) said, “I passed by Fatima (s.a)’s house and found her working on her handmill.
Hasan (a.s) was crying beside her. I offered to help her either at the mill or by taking care of Hasan (a.s). She preferred to take care of Hasan (a.s) so I helped her grinding. That’s why I am late.”

The Prophet (Saww) was pleased with Bilal (r.a) and he prayed for Bilal (r.a) saying, ‘”You showed mercy on her; may Allah (s.w.t) have mercy on you.”

Although her life was hard it was peaceful The family lived a life of satisfaction and happiness. Imam Ali (a.s) remembered this life for so long as he lived.
On the death of Fatima (s.a) Imam Ali (a.s) said, “She was the everlasting soul of paradise.

Her sweet smell is in my heart and soul, even though she is no more with me.”

FATIMA (s.a) AS A MOTHER
In her short life, she had four childien: Imam Hasan (a.s), Imam Husain (a.s),  Zainab (s.a) and Um-Kulthum (s.a). Her fifth child, Mohsin, died at the time of birth, just a few days before she passed away from this world. But in those few years she was a perfect mother.

She gave her children the best upbringing that made them all be the best people in the world. Besides teaching them how to spend their entire lives in the way of Allah, she also taught them to develop an excellent character.

She brought them up with love and kindness but also prepared them to face the hardship of life.

Asma Binti Umays reports that one day the Prophet (saww) came to Fatima (s.a)’s house and inquired for  Al Hasan (a.s) and Al Husain (a.s). As they were not home, she said, “Today morning, when they woke up there was no food to give to them.

Ali (a.s) therefore took them with him so that they do not remain at home crying for food.”
The Prophet (Saww) went where the two children were.

Imam Ali (a.s) left the children under the care of the Prophet (saww) and went to fetch water for a Jewish farmer who paid him with one piece of date for every pail of water he drew from the well Having collected a handful of dates they all returned home to share it with Fatima Zahra (s.a). Such was the training that the children of Fatima (s.a) received.

It is not surprising that Lady  Zainab (s.a) and Um-Kulthum (s.a) were the most educated persons in the knowledge of Islam and Qur’an.
Lady Zainab (s.a) and Um-Kulthum (s.a) were scholars of their times. Many authentic “Ahadith” have been quoted from them.

10 Lessons from the Life of Fatimah bint Muhammad (Saww)

1) Fatima Zahra (s.a) herself taught her daughters for as long as she lived.

2),should be performed.
She lived near her father. Ali (a.s).had chosen a house far away but Haritha ibn Nu’man Ansari offered his houses near al Masjid al Nabwi to the Prophet (saww) for his daughter.
The household items that were bought by Umm Aiman for the bride were placed in this house and the new couple were taken to the new house.

3) She lived a life of poverty with her husband because Ali (a.s) worked as a labourer in the Jewish fields and gardens sometimes just to earn a few dates. On many occasions they went to bed hungry.

4) Fatimah (s.a) did not have fine clothes or a comfortable life. She worked very hard doing all her housework with patience.
When Ali (a.s) suggested to her to ask for a maid from her father as many prisoners of the battle had arrived, her father suggested that she increase her supplications by reciting:
‘SubhanAllah,
Alhamdulillah and
Allahu Akbar’ thirty three times (Allahu Akbar was has been reported to be recited thirty four times). This came to be known as Tasbih

5) Fatima (s.a). (The lesson for us and our children, increase your duas and prayers in hardships)

6) Fatimah had three sons (Al Hasan, Al Husayn and Muhsin) and two daughter’s Zainab and Umm Kulthum. Muhsin died in childhood. Fatima (s.a) was a doting mother. She made sure to give her children the same upbringing like that of her parents.

8)?She was closest to her father and he showed great regard and respect for her. He was very affectionate with his daughter and gave her great importance. Whenever he left for a journey or returned it started from her home and he’d return to visit her first.

9) The lessons for us and our children from her relationship with her family is the importance of family culture. How to respect our parents and remember that even after we get married, our responsibility and love for them should continue to get stronger.
Once during a sermon, the Prophet (saww) said, “O Fatima (s.a), ask me for anything that belongs to me, but I cannot save you from the punishment of Allah. Save yourself from the fire of Hell.” He would always inspire her to be God fearing and pious.

10) Fatimah (s.a) was an example of modesty and piety having come from the noblest of families. It was no doubt her upbringing in the noblest of families that made her character. She was a woman of strong faith who had extreme patience. She never complained in spite of her numerous trials and hardships but was always grateful to Allah.
The Prophet (Saww) said: “Fatimah (s.a) will be the leader of the women of Paradise”.
He also honored her with the title ‘Lady of Paradise‘.
He had also once said: “The best of women in the world are four :
Maryam (the mother of Isa), Asiya (the wife of the Pharoah),
Khadija (a.s)and
Fatimah (s.a).“

Justice Of Ali Bin Ibi Talib

“Justice Of Ali Bin Ibi Talib”

One day Imam Ali the caliph of Muslims had a dispute with a Jewish man about armour, where Imam Ali claimed the armour was his and the Jewish man denied the allegation. Therefore, Imam Ali asked the Jewish man to come with him to the Judge and resolve the matter before him.

The Jewish man accepted the offer and went with Imam Ali to the judge. The judge heard the story from Imam Ali, and then asked him: do you have a witness to testify the armour is yours? Imam Ali replied: Yes my son Hussein is my witness, and his son Imam Hussein testified that the armour was his father’s.

The Judge asked Imam Ali once more, if he had a second witness, and Imam Ali said that he does not have a second witness. Therefore, the judge ruled in favour of the Jewish man, and said due to absence of sufficient witnesses the armour belongs to the defendant.

Imam Ali accepted the ruling and was about to leave the place, when the Jewish man said: you are the caliph of Muslims, and you brought me here to a Judge, and the Judge ruled in my favour, and you are fine with this notion. You are the true successor of Mohammad.

You were right, the armour is yours. It fell of your camel when you were leaving for a battle, and I took it. Then the Jewish man converted to Islam, when he saw the tolerance of Ali and his Justice and acceptance of others.

That was the quality of Justice Of our Caliphs time.
