The episode during Mamun’s Reign

The fame and popularity of Hazrat Imam Ali Raza is universal. He has served the cause of religion from the bottom of the heart. The number of his followers is so great, and the spiritual uplifting is so deep that any space would fall short of describing it. His sacrifice and religious practices were so truthful that Mamun decided to hand him over the reins of governance since Hijri 218. He wished to make him the successor. First of all, he summoned Fazal-Ibne-Sohel, conveyed him his wish and told him to discuss the matter with his brother. After discussion, both of them came to Mamun’s court where Hasan said that it was a big step. He added that if

Mamun did that, the control and power from his hands would be slipped away. On this, Mamun said, “Handing over the caliphate to the best of Bani Talib’s descendants is, I feel, much better than having control over the perfidious people. And, Imam Ali Raza is the best among all of them. I will surely do that.” When both of them realised that Mamun was bent upon his decision, they kept quiet. Then, Mamun told them to go to Ali Raza, inform them about his decision and hand over the power. They went to Hazrat Ali Raza, informed him about Mamun’s decision and requested him to accept the reins of governance. Hazrat Ali Raza refused to accept, but both the messengers insisted upon it and finally, Hazrat accepted caliphate reluctantly. He said, “I will not work according to anybody’s orders, wishes, directions or rules. At the same time, I will not change the rules, regulations and the whole set up that exists now. When Mamun heard this, he, immediately accepted all the conditions put by Hazrat. He fixed 5th Ramadan ul Mubarak, Hijri 201, Thursday, for this historic meeting. All the personnel of government gather there. At that time, Mamun ordered Fazal-bin-Sualeh, “Inform all the persons present in the meeting that from today, Hazrat Ali Raza is the Amir-ul-Mominin, I have handed over the responsibility and accepted him as my religious head (Successor).” After that, the Hazrat came and took his holy seat. He had put on the green dress, turban on the head and had a sword in his waist. Mamun asked his son to take the oath of allegiance to his hand. After that, all the gentries stood up and offered sermons and praises on his name. Then, Mamun showered plentiful jewellery and money over the guests.” After that, Mamun requested him, “Hazrat, you, please stand and recite sermon (Khutba).” (Tashrif-ul-Bashar) “9

फ़सतात का क़िला

इस्लामी फ़ौज ने हज़रत उमरू बिन आस रज़ियल्लाहु तआला अन्हु की सरदारी में जब मुल्के मिस्र का रुख किया तो छोटे छोटे इलाके फतह करते हुए फ़सतात पहुंचे और क़िले को घेर लिया। किला बहुत मज़बूत था । अपनी हिफ़ाज़त के ख़्याल से क़िला बंद हो गये। इधर मुसलमानों के पास सामाने रसद और फ़ौज भी कम थी, दोबारा ख़िलाफ़त से मदद । हज़रत उमरू ने दस हज़ार सिपाही और चार अफ़सर मदद के लिये रवाना किये। यह लिखकर एक ख़त भी रवाना किया कि चार अफ़सरों में हर एक एक हज़ार सवार के बराबर है जब यह मदद फ़सतात पहुंची हज़रत उमरू बिन आस रज़ियल्लाहु तआला अन्हु ने हज़रत जुबैर के रुत्बे का ख़्याल करके घेराबंदी करने वाली फ़ौज का हाकिम बना दिया। हज़रत जुबैर ने घोड़े पर सवार होकर पहले किले के चारों तरफ चक्कर लगाया और जिन जिन जगहों पर मुनासिब समझा, फ़ौज के दस्ते मुर्कार कर दिये। इस तरह सात महीने तक किले का घेराव रहा लेकिन हार जीत का कोई फैसला न हो सका । आख़िर एक दिन उकता कर हज़रत जुबैर ने कहा आज मैं इस्लाम पर फ़िदा होता हूं। यह कहकर एक सीढ़ी लगाकर किले की दीवार पर चढ़ गये और ऊपर जाकर ज़ोर से नारा-ए-तकबीर बुलंद किया। इधर नीचे फाटक के सामने जो फ़ौज थी उसने भी इतने ज़ोर से नारे तक्बीर बुलंद किया कि वह क़िले की ज़मीन दहल गयी। अहले क़िला समझे कि मुसलमान अंदर घुस आये। वह परेशान होकर इधर उधर भागने लगे। मौके को गनीमत जानकर हज़रत जुबैर ने नीचे उतरकर किले का दरवाज़ा खोल दिया। पूरी फ़ौज अंदर घुस आयी। लोग घबराकर इधर उधर भागने लगे। हाकिमे शहर मुकूक़स ने अमन की दरख्वास्त की और फ़ौरन अमन दे दिया गया। इस तरह हज़रत जुबैर की अक्लमंदी और बहादुरी से यह ज़बरदस्त क़िला भी मुसलमानों के कब्ज़े में आ गया। (तारीखे इस्लाम )

सबक : सहाबए किराम ने अल्लाह की राह में अपनी जानें कुरबान करने में भी झिझक न फ़माई। इसी जज़्बे के साथ वह सारी दुनिया पर छा गये। फिर आज जो लोग अल्लाह की राह में कुरबानी का एक बकरा भी कुरबान करने को तैयार नहीं होते सौ-सौ किस्म के बहाने करते हैं। कुरबानी देने के ख़िलाफ़ मज़मून लिखते हैं, वह बराए नाम मुसलमान न हुए तो क्या हुए ? हिकायत-२१५ Na
