Imprisonment of Hazrat Musa Kazimby Mehdi bin Mansoor

Mehdi bin Mansoor called Hazrat Musa from Medina to Iraq and imprisoned him. At night, Hazrat Ali told Mehdi in his dream, “O’ (#22 Surah-e-Muhammad verse) فهل عسيتم إن توليكم أن تفسدوا في الأرض وتقطيعوا أرحامكم Mehdi Rabi’i says, “At that very moment he called me, and he was reciting the above verse very happily in a loud voice. He told me, ‘go and bring Musa, the son of Jafar from the prison.’ When Hazrat Musa Kazim came, Mehdi shook his hand, requested him to sit, narrated his dream and told him to assure that he would not go against him.’ Hazrat Musa Kazim said, ‘Neither I opposed you till today nor, I am going to do that in the days to come.’ Then, he ordered the Rabi’i to give ten thousand Dinars to Hazrat, free him and send him to Medina Munavvarah. Rabi’i says, ‘I got bags and baggage ready by night for the journey. Then, I gave him ten thousand Dinars and immediately sent him towards Medina Munavvarah so that before Mehdi starts harassing him again, he reaches to Medina.””

Halt at Baghdad and tortures of Harun al Rashid

From Medina Munavvarah, Hazrat Musa Kazim had to go to Baghdad. It was because once he was sitting near Khana-e-Ka’aba, and Harun Rashid came. He said, “I have come to know that secretly you are giving the oath of allegiance to people.” Hazrat Musa Kazim said, “I am the leader-Imam, of heart and you are leading physical bodies. One day, both of us will stand before Rasulallah, and Rashid will say,

“السلام علیک یابن عم

السلام علیک یا ابت ,Kazim will say

When Harun al Rashid heard, he arrested Hazrat Musa Kazim, brought him to Baghdad and imprisoned him. Continuously for one year, he was kept behind bars by Isa ibne Jafar bin Mansoor. After one year, Harun al Rashid ordered, “Kill him so that we may be free from tension.” Isa consulted some important persons, showed Harun’s letter and discussed the matter. The unanimous opinion was that Isa should keep himself away from all that matter. Then, Isa wrote a letter which is given below:

“0, Amir-ul-Mominin! Hazrat Kazim, about whom you have given me the suggestion, is in my prison for a long time. During this long duration of time, I have tested him from different angles. I did not find him harmful. He has always been praying for the welfare of the people. He is neither jealous about your kingdom nor thinks anything against you. He does not have any worldly asset. I have never seen him cursing anyone. He always prays for the people at large. He is very regular in offering prayers, observing fasts and worship of Allah, the Almighty. I shall be obliged if your good self deputes the following work to somebody else and free me from it. If you do not do it, reluctantly, I will have to leave him because it lot.” When the letter reached to Harun Rashid, he ordered Sanadi Ibn-i-Sahiq to take Hazrat Musa Kazim into his custody and fulfil the duty that had been allotted to him before. Sanadi gave a poisoned date to Hazrat Musa Kazim; consequently, he died. hurts me
