The speech of Nabi Pak ﷺ describing importance of Murtuza AlahisSalam



It has already been mentioned that Hijri 6 was almost at the end and Huzur ﷺ started for Umrah with fourteen hundred pious Sahaaba-ekiram. But the Quraish opposed, and finally, it was decided that the Muslims would go for Umrah during the following year. According to the decision taken, Huzur ﷺ went for performing Umrah during Hijri 7. All the Sahaabas who were present in Hudebiyah rode over their animals for the journey according to the Prophet ﷺ order.

When, after performing Umrah, Huzur ﷺ set for Medina-e-Munawwara, Hazrat Hamza Radiallahu anhoo daughter, Amama came running, shouting, “Uncle Uncle”. She had no guardian there who could care for her. In Chap. Umratul Qaza, on pg#610 of Sahih Bukhari, it is said, “Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam lifted her and handed her over to Hazrat Fatimah AlaihisSalam and told her to keep her with her.” Each one of the Sahaabas, i.e. Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam , Hazrat Jafar Radiallahu anhoo Hazrat Zaid bin Harisa Radiallahu anhoo requested to let them have the responsibility of Amama. The following dialogues took place: Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam: I was the one to lift her first, and she is also my cousin. Hazrat Jafari Radiallahu anhoo She is equally my cousin too, and her aunt is my wife. Hazrat Zaid Radiallahu anhoo Hamza was my close friend, and she is his daughter.

On this, Huzur ﷺ expressed his decision that aunty is as good as a mother. Hence, Amama was handed over to Hazrat Jafar Radiallahu.

Then the Prophet ﷺ told Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam: “You are because of me, and I am because of you.”

He told Hazrat Jafar Radiallahu anhoo”You are as like as me in your external and internal profile.”

Then he told Hazrat Zaid bin Haris Radiallahu anhoo “You are my spiritual brother and my freed slave.”

Note: The words that were uttered by Huzur ﷺ, addressing these three persons, have a great impact, and they are self-explanatory, because, no more annotation for them is necessary. But, the words that are said for Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam viz. “You are because of me, and I am because of you,” are miracles by themselves. “This does not mean that you are very near to me, but it indicates the height of virtue.”

About the meaning of this Hadith, Hafiz-ibn-Hajar writes, “the vicinity between you and me is up to the love for each other so far as the acceptance of Islam and the relationship is concerned. Except these, in other blessings, you are because of me, and I am because of you. (We have a particular connection regarding these points.).” These words do not show the proximity, because, in these, Hazrat Jafar Radiallahu anhoo also is included. On the authenticity of this annotation, the meaning of Hadith is that Huzur ﷺ says to Hazrat Ali AlaihisSalam You are ours, and we are yours.” This is the expression of unity that means, whatever will be done with you, will mean, as if; it has been done with us. It has been described in some Hadiths. For example:

i. Ali is the master of those whose I am the master.

ii.Loving Ali is equal to loving me. iii. One who is jealous of Ali is equally jealous of me

iv. If anyone abuses Ali, it is as bad as abusing me.
And if anyone abuses me, it is as bad as abusing Allah. me. One who has followed Ali is as good as following me. v.If one has disobeyed Ali, it is equally disobeying me.

vi. Loving Ali is equal to loving me.

vii. And loving me is as good as loving Allah.

viii. One who is jealous of Ali is equally jealous of

ix.And if anyone is jealous of me, it is as bad as being jealous of Allah.

x.One, who has left Ali, has left me and who has left me has equally left Allah.
